The core let out a nice big puff of smoke and looked quite shafted afterwards. Funnily enough I took it back to the shop I got it from, complained it was DOA and got a new one
When I started overclocking, I set the FSB to something or other, and left the voltage on AUTO, so the BIOS seemingly upped the CPU voltage by roughly 219 volts and 613 mega watts to try and achieve the rather optimistic FSB I had entered.
Thankfully I had core temp, and saw it the second windoze booted. I've never moved so fast to click off the power at the psu. I've never left the voltage in the bios on auto since either
I think i've let myself hit 72-75oC before but thats about it, that was back in the days of athlonXP 1800
I've completely fried a barton 2500 by accidently braking the tracers on my motherboard thus putting way too much power through the CPU so god knows what temperature that hit to kill it
My record on a cpu is 70C, then I hit the SCRAM button...not totalling a £900 CPU thank you. On the other hand, when a driver update stopped automatic fan control on the 280GTXs, both of them got to 125 at idle (fan off)...Simple solution was to apply a non flammable, non aqueous liquid at sub zero temperatures and get the fans on. Thank you canned air held upside down...
89C on a Pentium 4 1.4Ghz, the socket 423, first P4's out there, crap CPU. I just ran Prime95 and turn the HS fan off. It would have gone much hotter, but I didn't want to blow my CPU. The temps were rising almost 1C every second, I want to try it sometime, just see how high I can get till it blows or my comp shuts-down. I need money though.
blown an e6300, it literally turned black, ive known someone just turn the comp on and we've watched a cpu die right in front of us, but my personal best is around 80c. I consider that the max to go...
Clocking my E6750 now to 4ghz on water and im touching 31c
56oC load on my Q9450 @ 3600Mhz, not too shabby, but very worryingly there is ALOT of hot air coming out my TJ07 at the bottom, the whole things seems to head up alot 48oC on the HD 4870 as overclocked as CCC lets me, not too shabby I think
23oC on my Athlon AM2 5000+ @2800Mhz, I fear the temp probe might have done t**s up as they say, that or the Sycthe Infinity cooler is truely an amazing cooler...
