Be cautious with Ikea since many of their desks are cardboard filled fiberboard. Some of the desks are MDF, and a couple are hardwood.
For instance I've got an MDF Klimpen, which I wouldn't recommend since the paint isn't durable, and if the paint is damaged it sucks moisture like a sponge. It took two months worth of morning coffees to work through the paint.
The cardboard filled stuff is a bit of a mixed bag, they're cheap and light but can't support a clamp of a monitor stand (at least without reinforcing with support boards) and almost all such Ikea furniture I've owned have became loose since the screws and fittings can't bear much lateral force.
Hardwood should be mostly fine.
