What can Physix can do in games?

Which is why it is being released after the PCI version ;)

It is inevitable that in a year or two PCI will be like the other standard that bit the dust - so it will be a natural progression for and PCI card to be re-engineered to suit PCI-X.

but why bother with PCI-X at all ????

Now PCI-E is available, id assume that would be the next step :?

I can't be bothered to do as many quotes as you have so I'll do this instead:

There will be more than one standard in physix - thats why Nvidia purchased HavokFX - one would imagine that their task in the near future will be to create an 'open' standard that leans towards how Nvidia want it.

1GB cards are already available in open GL and quad SLI, Physix is already being shipped with 128 and 256MB - it's not rocket science to think that if physix and graphic processing are going to be on one card (knowing that 512MB cards are the norm now) that 1GB will be the standard for next year.

I like the idea of creative and Ageia collaborating their market forces and presenting the solution for physix with Sound - however, Nvidia and ATI are hardly going to standby and watch - like half life 2 and doom3, we could see games being sponsored (read as funded) by Ageia/creative/Nvidia/ATI.

Nobody thought Nvidia would buy ULI - ATI are running out of chips already due to their lack of vision, so its truly conceivable that Ageia could be purchased by anyone. I was aligning them to the GPU guys, but AMD or Intel could buy them and add Phyix to their Quad core CPU's - VIA could buy them and add them to their motherboards?

Well hopefully I have covered all the permutations of what might happen - but take my thread further up the field of my early predictions for 2007 ;)

I`m watching the film clip at the mo.... I`d like to see a comparison between the game coded using Aegia, the coded for Aegia but not using it- (would FPS suffer because the load is moved elsewhere, or would effects be cut?), and the game coded without Aegia. It looks good, but not worth £200. IMHO, F.E.A.R. looks almost as good.

Fair enough, the Aegia might allow "random" behaviour and "invidual" events, but is it worth it?

I have the same question and is it going to work with every game?

If i understood correct from this one http://www.bfgtech.com/physx/index.htm then physx will work only with selected titles 8) .

Well if anyone fancies testing it they are in stock on a certain competitors website, although i'd never order through the company (hopefully this will make you realise who i mean) ;)
