So ive got a q6600 on my gigabyte GA-X48-DS4 and ive got it clocked at 3.2 right now and i seem to have hit a wall. I have learned that my OCZ platinum DDR6400 mem OCs for poop. here is a screen shot. tell me what I should do..

btw, I am on air w/ a zalman CNPS9700LED with an Antec 900 case so i have lots of airflow to say the least. and for the video dept i got 2 4850 in CF

Try raising your V core, you can easily go up to 1.35 on air, probably more without too many issues.

i bumped it to 1.35 and its good, now the block i feel i have hit is the memory i ran prime95 for an hour and no errors on any cores. its just that my memory cant take it..

any suggestions on how much "looser" i should time it? i have it 5-5-5-15 right now.

On ur CPUz, there is a tab at the top labelled SPD, post a nice screen shot of that :)

(dont need full screen, just the window)

Try unlinking your memory from the fsb, and you could probably juice the processor more. (check temperatures, but that 9700 is good). People can quite easily hit 3.5. I would personally buy some 1066 memory as you only have 2 gigs it will be cheap. However just ocing, it shouldn't be too difficult to get 1000.

Try getting your cpu high and stable before worrying about the memory.

5-5-5-15 is pretty loose for 800 performance ram, you could probably stick with that to 1000.

i will try that also thanks! :D

Diablo, as far as I know only nVidia motherboards allow you to unlink the FSB:DRAM.

Another thing, what are you on about with 1.35v on air you should be fine? A Q6600 can take up to 1.45v on air and run cool and is perfect for 24/7 usage ;)

yeah looks like im gonna have to upgrade my memory so i can hit a higher clock speed. i want to be at 3.5 on air. i can do it.. the temps say i got lots of room. under full load i was at 45C.

thats the same memory i had and i got mine to 950 stable so it will clock.what voltage is your mem set at?

@maddutchdude: I wouldnt want to put a 65nm quad at 1.45 on air,at least not for 24/7 unless i had some mega airflow(like a a/c system ducted to cpu)

i just gave it a .05 bump in voltage from the BIOS. what are you running at? voltage and timings. I would to try your memory settings.

sorry I am not on that memory anymore mate, iirc i just used the standard timings and put up the mem voltage to 1.975v ish

well, i am rocking full rock stable at 3.6 on air!! the core voltage im a little iffy about but it needs this much for the stability i ran prime95 for ten minutes and maxed out all cores and the hottest it got was 68C I think i can do this 24/7 but i dont know if i should stress test for that long lol.

as for the memory I had to match it at the 800mhz other wise it wont boot into windows. I tried the OCed memory to boot and i gradually kept upping the voltage to boot into windows at 840mhz oc, i have it +.45v and still was unable to boot into windows. :(

but check this pic tho. I am pleased. Should I back it down for 24/7 runtime?

nice going !! but that vcore is not good for 24/7 on air,are you sure there is no way you can rduce that?whats the voltages for everything else?

everything else is normal voltage. my memory clocked at full 1:1 so it went no prob.

i have clocked it down to 3.5 now and my voltage is at 1.45 in windows. its 1.48 in the bios. but it failed on prime95 on core#1. So i guess im gonna have to give either more voltage or drop the clock back more.. but id really like it 3.6 which i know now it can do..

well i was successful with prime95 max temp was 59 on all cores.

3.4ghz (380x9) @ 1.45v

it down clocked my memory to 760mhz but thats negligable. what do you think?

i dont think its bad for being on air. i was running stable at 3.6 on air too!!! but the vcore was too high it was at like 1.55

looking good.Is there any sort of fine tuning you can do with the vcore?the reaso i ask is that I have a special add with my bios which will give me a fine control over the vcore,if you have something like that it may help lower your vcore even more
