I think that group should've been split up a bit more. Obviously kids go through changes so there's going to be a lot of differences between a 10 and a 13 year old. And a 13 and 16 year old. And a 20 year old.

You cannot comment, you didn't even take the poll...

Is that the whole reason why you created this thread? To boost your self esteem? To try to walk over younger people?
A 20 year old is a grown person, a 10 year old is a child. A 30 year old is a grown person and so is a 40 year old, no wonder that those people don't complain.
.

Why wouldn't a 10 - 20 group member have as good or better self esteem than a member of an older group?? I don't see the logic in that and anyways your comments are unwarranted, I was just musing as we old coots tend to do. I don't think I have walked over anyone, although you have made an attempt with your comment.

Psychologically speaking, a persons psyche is developed by age 12, so in a way we are all looking at the world through the eyes of a 12 yo. and I, for one, am glad of that and will always see life as a 12 yo. thank you very much.

Pretty sure he can. In fact he just did and I agree with it.

All hes saying is that the 10-20 age group should be split up more, because a 20 year old behaves differently than a 10 year old as you said.

With years, comes wisdom.
- So allow me to drop some knowledge on y'all.

This poll does not indicate the average age of the forum's users. Rather, it indicates the ages of those who took the poll. 71 individuals have entered data - last i checked, there were many more users then that using this forum.

I think it indicates the average age of forum regulars.

It may - but based on the data I have seen, I can't draw that conclusion.
Now, I may be one of the least regular members to have participated, and have other motivations to find reason to dismiss the results (I dont want to feel so old :oldman1:) - but good epistemology and statistics would require an analysis of the sample group.

Not to make a mountain out of a mole hill.

Perhaps a better question would be: "Posts, on average, are produced by a user of what age ?"

Edit: yea, i know, it's not a scientific poll.

You sir deserve a Medal for that speech

I have to be honest, you're not making things easy for yourself here BigBlue.

First you pick an argument with our webmaster. This was in the same thread were you preached freedom of speech. Now, you're trying to tell a moderator on the same forum that he cannot post in a thread, on said forum that you do not own. It's not even the fact that we're mods/admins. We don't want you talking to any of our regulars like that, so if you could tone it down a little that would be much appreciated.

On topic:
I'm assuming that you made this poll just for a general idea of the average age of the regulars here, so it doesn't really matter. All we were stating was that there is a bigger difference between people's behaviour in the 10-20 age group than any other group and that it would've been nice if that group was split up a bit more.

I'd be happy to do that for you if you want me to.

Amazed at how many 51-60 there are. Wouldn't have expected so many. If these numbers are representative, it's good that there are so many people of that age group that are interested in technology... Most people I know in that generation have no clue or are totally disinteresed :)

This isn't about self esteem, it's about development of character, i never even said that an older person has better self esteem than a 10-20 year old.

I don't know where you got your psychological facts from, but i have changed a lot since i was 12. As your education improves and you gain life experience your view of the world will change, if it doesn't you have a problem.

You seeing the world through the eyes of a 12 year old could explain though why you don't realize when you seem condescending to other people.

I have and I agree with Feronix. He still has the right to comment anyway. Don't be a rude dude :).

There are alot of differences in that age gap compared to 20-30 (for example).
I am closer to 20 (19) then 10. The age grouping in this is not really that good in my opinion as from my experience 18-21 is a different age group entirely.

I don't really judge by age on here anyway, quite often age really has no affect on maturity.

PC`s have been around for a few years you know;) as has gaming, modding & overclocking.
Did you not ever think that Tom, Linus, Logan and the likes got inspiration from someone to get into the biz?
As in any hobby some will drop off and a few will soldier on with what they enjoy doing :D

Quite often you dont even realise how old someone is. When I came to OC3D I, for example, thought rambo was like 25 after I saw his notebook mods with the volt mods etc. Then I heared from somewhere that he is 16 and I was like WAT?

It is hard to judge a persons age on the internet and it is harder to judge maturity. People don't act or speak how they would in real life on the internet.

Usually immature people act even more immature and mature people act more mature. The internet is a strage place.

Some people do, but not always. Personally i'm less mature on the internet than I am in real life. I wouldn't say half the things I say on the internet in real life. There is no need to be all mature about things on the internet though, within reason :D Obviously going full retard isn't the way to go but there is no need to be all serious about things either :)

I guess the poll is concerning the people that take the poll, obviously one cannot get statistics on people that are not known to exist. But, of the people that do take the poll the numbers are revealing. And that was the purpose of this poll. If anyone was offended by the poll itself, or by anyone's sense of humor, I apologize to you, but, you didn't have to read it after all.:D

Yeah TBH all the age groups should be split up a little more, it's definitely not fair to have a 20 year old in a group with 10 year olds...

17 BTW.
