Welcome to The Machine

Yeah OK Pink Floyd Reference but it fits the industrial nature of this upcoming build.

Ever since the death and subsequent rebirth of my X58 system I have really wanted to sink my teeth into a fully custom water cooled machine. So I have decided to start here....

The name is derived from the color scheme and aesthetics. Starting with the ASUS X99 Delux U3.1 a black PCB with white trim and a Cor i7 5930k (I really don't need those 2 extra cores) but the 40 PCIE Lanes could be handy. Planning on building this into either a Corsair 900d oooor maybe a Caselabs case depending on where the rest of my finances go.

Parts List: (Not yet purchased)

Samsung SSD's:
M.2 Samsung 950 Pro 512 mb (System Drive)
Samsung 850 Evo 1 TB SSD x 2
2x Western Digital 6TB Black 7200 SATA 6 GB/S
32 GB Corsair Dominator Platinum DDR4-3200
2x NVIDIA 980TI Reference Cards
Corsair HX1000i PSU (White cable mod kit)
Aquacomputer Airplex Modularity 280 rad
Aquacomputer Cuplex Kryos .925 Silver CPU block
EKWB Nickle CPU Block x2
EKWB Nickle Backplate x2

Pump, Res, Tubing and Fittings Still Pending.

Overall asthetic will be blocky Industrial black white and chrome/ silver with maybe some soft white back lighting and maybe some UV. But that's for later on.

Changelog

So I ordered the case today as well as the memory.

Ordered the Mercury S8. Now have to wait the month and a half for delivery...all good though that gives me time to flesh out the cooling loops. I did receive the board and chip but it looks like I'll have a pile 'o boxes sitting around until the case gets here.

Parts arriving

Well some of the parts have started to show up...

Expecting the mem kit this afternoon!
Let me know if you want to see anything more specific on the board or any of the attachments.

oohh that parts list! A 900D is an awesome case to work with, you've got PLENTY of room in there. Mind that it really is huge, the rumors are true (but that's also why I love it). It makes eATX boards look so small inside.

A 900d also gives you the opportunity to install 2 60mm 480 rads to give you more than enough cooling power, allowing you to run your fans dead silent and still maintain wicked temps on your hardware. You can even install another 280 down in the bottom if you want to lol. I'm running my fans at 500rpm and my cards max out at around 45°C after an entire night of gaming. Keep in mind that you do need quite a few fans too when going with 2 480 rads

Umm well actually I decided to go with a caselabs Mercury S8...Although the 900D would have been Nice too, I decided to do a custom loop on this and wanted a horizontal mount to show off the goodies more. Just means that I have to wait until March to build it up....8(

TBH dude you made the right choice buy going with the Caselabs Mercury S8 one way to look at it you're helping an smallish American company out which also make the case in America too.

Very true, and I've seen nothing but good things about Caselabs. Not that I've seen very much bad stuff about Corsair either, I love my 700D. :D

Silly me I overlooked that part in your second post ^_^

Looking forward to your build and how you're going to do your loop

Caselabs quality is far greater than that of Corsair products. I mean we are talking entirely different galaxies here.

Not that there's anything wrong with the 900D it's just that Caselabs are of far higher quality and not mass produced.

The 900D is built on a steel frame - nuff said really.

I've gone off of the Caselabs look now because they've been completely done and dusted but at the end of the day I would still take one over pretty much everything else if I was building a big water cooled PC.

Yep, I'm thinking about getting a CaseLabs case for my next case i'm looking at the CaseLabs Merlin SM8 price here is $669.00aud

Is that the base price or with the options you want? The S8 came in at $615.00 USD. (That's With Shipping As well.)

Ok when It shows up, or I guess I could yank the one out of my NUC... You want a better look at the mounts for it on that board too...NVM I'll Show you anyway, once I get home from work Next Wednesday 8(

So UPS has a funny Idea about what leaving a package at the "Front Door" is. I was notified about a part arriving by E-Mail. I went to the front door to get it, since apparently no one knocked or rang the bell, no package. Called up UPS and asked where they left it, they said at the door. So after about an hour going around with them about it, I had to leave for work. On the way down the driveway...I see a package, in a plastic bag...TIED TO A TREE. WTF Guys! So anyway here's what it was.

Not Exactly sure why they decided to include a set of fans with this kit, especially since you could only use it on a single bank. Odd Very Odd.

Some new parts showed up today, and I actually got to do something with them. Although the second 6Tb Drive arrived it was a WD Purple Surveillance Drive??!!! WT# Amazon!

FYI my fingers now hurt, silly little screws! :p

Are the EVO's really "safe" guys, compared to the PRO's?...

The only real difference between them is 1 has slightly higher IOPS than the other.

Think of the EVO and Pro like the 980 Ti and the Titan X, Not much between them if anything at all yet 1 is vastly cheaper than the other :)
