Hi all,

Ive recently adquired another Western Digital 1002FAEX, is a SATA 6GB/s 1TB each. They were doing performances around 130 MB/s Write and Read alone.

I put them in Raid 0 for more performance.

They are using the Marvel controler in the Asus P6X58D-E. On Stripes of 64k. (was my first time doing raid so I let it default)

I got this results:

Bench1.jpg

Did it 2 times and same results.

Would I get more write speed if I change it to 128k stripes???

Thanks all for the support,

Ralm

Yes, but it depends on what kinds of files you work with as well. If you deal in all large file sizes, isos, virtual disks etc, the larger stripe size will help. You won't see or feel any real world difference in anything else though, just bench numbers.

If you have the time I'd say give it a shot and compare.

I just want to be able to record movies at Fraps at 60FPS per second and open apps faster.

I may try it tomorow or something.

as hmm said its all about the file size, smaller files like smaller stripes, i have a 64k stripe on mine as its the best comprimise.

I dont have many stuff installed yet, and now I have all stuff back up so no problem to format again and try 128k.

Is pretty fast when you install windows from a USB drive XD

Thx all for the support.

going to have to check into that lol seems alot of ppl are dropping the opti drives from thier systems. I have always wondered how they install stuff lol
