Watercooling Installed!

I've finally got my watercooling installed in my new case!

My setup is the same as it was before, but I've changed from using a Tuniq Tower 120 to watercooling, as well as installing it in my new Antec P182 case.

I have to admit, that the project didn't go perfectly smoothly, and I've been left with a few scars that remind me of the experience.

My watercooling setup is as follows:

D-Tek Fuzion cpu block

Thermochill PA120.3 rad

Clearflec 60 tubing

Custom adjustable height rad mount (thanks to Allsorts)

3 Yate Loon 120mm fans

Swiftech MCP655 Pump

I also ordered a few other bits and bobs to help tidy up the rig, but unfortunately I didn't buy the right sizes, or ordered too little :nono: :o

Ok...the first problem I encountered was totally my fault, as I didn't want to dismantle my old computer before I started on the new case.

I used AutoCAD and made myself a modified template of the rad to (imo) best suit the P182. Unfortunately, the fillport wasn't planned that well, and ended up being directly above the memory slots of the mobo. This meant having to drill another 1" hole centrally so that I could fit the tubing on!

Thats not all! I also snapped one of the clips that hold the memory sticks in. Luckily the sticks still stay in perfectly, and thank god its for sticks 3 & 4 (which I don't use).

I also managed to snap the clip that holds the graphics card in place, thanks to a cable that I didn't see and push a bit too hard!

Apart from that my first watercooling setup went well and I'm already seeing temperature drops of 8-9c and that arctic silver still hasn't cured.

No leaks either thank god!

Sorry about the quality of the pics, and the messy internals of the case, as I wasn't expecting everything to install perfectly first time.

Decent? They should be better than decent, a PA120.3 just for a CPU, temps should be awsome!:D
 
Photos look gr8 m8, that case looks really nice to work with.

Pretty good job of cable tidying, everything looks tightened up out of u`r way whilst u mess about with u`r loop.

8-9° before curing is a lovely result so far, I`m not sure how further it`s likely to drop, but u gotta be happy with that already ;)

Last shot looks like condensation - I have no idea if that`s an issue or anything, the experts can advise u better about that.

All looks really nice and I can`t believe how much room u got in the case after u`ve installed it - almost like u could lose the bottom section altogether. Be neat if the external stuff fit in it - but that`d probably hinder it`s effectiveness.

Wow, looks like the P182 ironed out a fair few of the originals pitfalls. Ill get 1st hand experience soon...

Nice job though. Hope your temps are real peachy:p
 
Nice new loop man, looks good! That should keep that proccy nice and cool to say the least. Triple 120 rad for a single block loop is awesome :D
 
Thanks for all the replies folks.

The ambient temperature in the room today is 20.2c and with the cpu at full load I'm getting a cpu temp of 35c

My 170 has always been hot, as it's probably the worst stepping available (CCBWE0551UPMW). With the TT I was getting ~44c in identical conditions, so I'm more than happy with the results.

I do have an issue with cable routing though, as the rear case panel is kind of bowing due to the amount of cable behind the mobo tray. I've tried to space everything out best I can, but I'm really having difficulty.

As for the huge rad for just the cpu, I've tried to make the rig futureproof for a while, so that it'll accept my next couple of major overhauls, which will include a dx10 card at some point too.

Rastalovich - I assume you're talking about the t-line tube? If so, that's not condensation. I had only recently just finished bleeding and setting up the rig, and they are tiny tiny air bubbles that have now disappeared.
 
Well done mate, awesome job! I like how you have routed the tubing outside to the radiator so it doesn't interfere with the 5.25" bays. :cool:

Would insulating tape or something like that help to hold the cables & connectors flat against the mobo tray and give you more space?

Ah I gotcha.

I`m not sure what`s lower than a nOOb, perhaps a nOOble - either way I am it when it comes to wc`ing ;)

I can appreciate a kewl rig tho :)
 
Was bored today so tried playing around with my overclock.

Bearing in mind I have a very bad stepping, I'm now on 2.75ghz but fails orthos after about 12 minutes:o :o :o :o

Water temperatures are very good considering I'm pumping 1.485v through it:D :D :D

Runs fine at this speed, but it's just not orthos stable. May have to compromise my oc to something around 2.6ghz for stability, which is still 100mhz faster than I was originally running.
