water cooling suggestions

hey guyz.

im a n00b at this watercooling business, and i would just like a few suggestions.

i was thinking to start off with id get a: Swiftech H20-220 Apex "Ultra" Watercooling Kit inc. Apogee Waterblock

http://www.overclock.co.uk/product.php?productid=18645&cat=440&view=rel

id put the rad on the outside of the case (prob the top of it) to help out with the heat and change the fans over to a manual speed fan (or even one with an auto temp sensor) so that noise would be kept to a minimum.

then at a later date i'd save up and get a triple rad and maybe another pump...

ideas + suggestions?

note: im an utter nub at this and would like to start out with a kit and slowly upgrade at a later date

atm ive got an opty 170 running at 2.6ghz, can go higher and stable, but i just dont like the temps at that. atm its got the new stock AMD cooler.

When are you planning on making your purchase mate?

I'll be doing a water cooling kit roundup in about 1-2 weeks time which includes the kit you mentioned, along with about 4 other similar kits.

Will do mate, no problems.

I'm just waiting for one more kit, and then i'll have the review underway.

I can't see the Swiftech kit being bad, thats for sure - but Alphacool have a very nice one too that might tip the scales ;)

Has everyone forgotten about us :D

Watercooling kits are here and we stock all the alphacool ones.

Youve not mentioned what it is that you want to cool. Are you planning on jsut a cpu cooler or want to do GFX as well?

The Best kit for self assemble is the Basic Set 360, obviously this depends on your case as well.

What case are you using?

the case is an antec AMG1000, ive got 1 spare 5 1/4" bay and im planning on mainly cooling the CPU and mainboard, the grfx card is a bonus, but not needed, i dont really OC my grfx card.

what about these thermoelectric water cooled CPU blocks?

what are ppls opinions on em?

TEC/Pelt cooling is an interesting intermediate form of sub-zero cooling. Most pelts can go below freezing temperatures @ idle but not sustain @ load. However the loaded temps are much lower than say standard water cooling. Some people have had some outstanding results with TEC's.

The biggest downside is that it requires a quite large exteral power supply to operate the pelts but some people have thought of some creative ways to integrate the psu in to their cases.
