Want to buy a new gaming headset?

Hallo friends

How are all of you doing?

The time has come for me to buy a new gaming headset. I normally just play FPS games like BF etc. I had a look at Razer Tiamat 7.1, but it has NO bass at all. I have tried changing settings as well and I am very disappointed with them. I don't want to go for the Logitech G930 as its too old and they say the mic's break on them as well.

I am using on board sound from my MSI GD65 Gaming Mobo which is not too bad at all for on board sound

Not sure if I should go for wired/wireless? I need a headphone with a lot of bass as well. I also had a look @the Sennheiser PC360 and PC363. Any other suggestions mates? Should I go for 7.1 or 5.1? I am baffled.....

The Tiamat 7.1 is a joke, as well as the majority of Razer products. I own the G930, G900, Asus Orion Pro, and Corsair 1500. Out of all of them the 1500 are the best. The G930 and G900 only have 40mm drivers, which are good for stereo but once you get a bass heavy scene the surround and every high pretty much disappears and you are left with a awful bass sound (BF3 "a base heavy game" sounds terrible with the G930/900 if you put the bass up). The 1500 (as well as the 2000) and Orion Pro have 50mm drivers, and I can play Deadmau5 blasted and not lose any surround. (I have done it, and tested it in BF3).

I see the Corsair Vengeance 2000 is relatively on the inexpensive side in our country. So the quality and durability is fine & I would not be disappointed to buy a set of those? Have you ever had any experience with Senheisser?

I have the ASUS Orion (non pro) and they are awesome, open back though. If you want closed back look at the ASUS Vulcan

Nowadays it doesn't matter too much if it's wireless or not, there's not a lot of quality loss for wireless anymore. I myself have a Sennheiser RS170. It's not particularly a gaming headset, but it sounds very nice. Whenever you like to can boost the bass a bit by turning on the 'bass' function. The wireless range is great too, I can listen to music everywhere in my house ^_^

I had a set of PC350's from Sennhieser and they are a really good headphone I had mine for about 2-3 years and they still work really well but the earcups and headband rotted and I could'nt get good replacement pads so I changed to Audio-Technica ATH-AD700x's and they are fantastic it just depends on what you want to pay but the sennies are good

Well I don't mind spending as I want to buy it and be happy for the next 2 years at least. I also want a headset that can last 2 years as well........

But to me it sounds all headsets have their flaws......

personally I am using AKG Q701s(mine are green) at the moment for gaming because they are super comfortable, they are not designed for gaming but they sound amazing(when running proper files and through a good amp), they are open back though so if you do not like sound leakage well your gonna have a bad time. When I am not using these I am using astro a40s. If you are looking for just a gaming set I can recommend the astros. if you want a nice comfortable pair and want to use them for music as well go for the akg(unless you have money to burn then get the Sennheiser HD800 with a Grace m903 amp)

You see I don't mind spending, but I don't want to go all out and buy a separate headset with a separate mic. I need an all in one lol. And yes most all in one headsets are crappy.

Then again as I read on the forums, whether you buy an expensive 300 dollar set or a good quality 150 dollar set, there is not much difference.

What about the Corsair 2100? Are they more durable than the Corsair 2000? They are relatively inexpensive as well......

Well, if you really want a headset, only one I can recommend is this. It requires a headphone amp, or a sound card with a built-in one. It goes well with Xonar DG, for one.

I have those for the moments when desktop mic won't do, apart from somewhat harsh high tones I have no complaints.
