Vista RC1

I ran it for a week, and it still wasn't that stable. The new photo management app crashed every time I loaded it for example...:(

Does anyone know if Vista will allow installation and booting from an external FireWire drive? I hate the fact that WinXP can only boot from a USB device and not FireWire, and even then u have to perform a few tricky registry hacks to make it boot correctly from a USB device. OS X on the other hand, can install & boot from both right out the box, yay for Macintosh EFI :p

Is your system overclocked? And can you be sure of the quality of the disc you burned?

Nope - stock Dell. Disc seems fine, and installed fine, so I'm not sure that can be the problem either...

Not particularly pleased to find that it couldn't even recognise the Audigy either - not exactly release candidate material when it comes to one of the best selling soundcards on the market :(

Downloading 64 bit right now :)

I can still run 32 bit apps right?

Yes it can. There are a few progs that I have run into problems with but vista automatically searches the net for fixes and has found one each time.

Sweet, now I have to figure out how to run vistabootpro because the BCD registry can't be accesed

Something I just realized...There is no support for SLI or CF in vista rc1 :( Or am I just blind and missing it somewhere? Spent the last hour trying to find it but can't find a thing.

have you got the latest RC1 drivers from nvidia installed, dont be surprised at the lack of support for crossfire / SLI stuff atth emoment. remember.. its a beta :D

Well I would post some screenies but paint isnt wanting to play nicely and I don't have anything else on here to mess with. :(

damnit now the nvidia audio driver is giving me problems. i was getting a little static earlier so i decided to scratch the microsoft driver and get the nvidia one. Apparently it isnt signed so it wont instal and I can't get the microsoft one to install again :(

Here's one from my laptop, sorry the quality isn't that good, I only have paint on here at the moment, and it's crap for jpgs ;).

Well I just ended up reinstalling Vista. I tried calling Nvidia tech support and Microsoft but neither could help because it is a "beta" release. They said post on the forums and see if anyone can help. I would rather just reinstall and have sound in 30 mins then wait days to have it back. Hopefully paint will work with me now :)
