Well tonight I installed vista with no problems

But

When I try and go on the internet I cant access any sites in the bottom left it would say (connecting to (then the ip))

I have updated all the network drives but I just don’t know what’s up?

Also I can’t even login to my router

IP is always the same (google uk's IP)

Internet Explorer

Cant install it in safe mode, cant take off the password (fail to see how this would help)

Erm new problem

I can’t get rid of vista from the boot menu!!

I have deleted the partition but it still comes up which os to boot

get.php

Ummmmm, I would back up your hard drive and reinstall windows. Choose the "earlier version of windows" or if you want to choose "windows vista." It's up to you. I would personaly choose "earlier version of windows."

Don’t understand why I would do that. I really can’t be bothered with formatting as I only did one 8days ago

That boot menu is in C:\boot.ini - It'll be hidden, but open it up in notepad and delete the lines you dont need.

Its a hidden & system file. You'll need to show all files (incl system files) before you can do anything with it.

Alternatively, just open notepad, click file>open and enter C:\boot.ini in the file box.

;Warning: Boot.ini is used on Windows XP and earlier operating systems.

;Warning: Use BCDEDIT.exe to modify Windows Vista boot options.

[boot loader]

default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS

[operating systems]

multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /NOEXECUTE=OPTIN /FASTDETECT

No problems with vista here althoug the 3d mark series doesnt work on the Pre RC1 builds that Im using.

Sounds like it wasnt picking up an ip address or dns settings if it was showing the ip address and not the name of the wbesite. You also ahe to run the network settings wizard to allow you access to the net as its locked down from the outset.

Looking at your screenshot now Browney it doen't look like something from boot.ini - more like something that Vista has installed into the bootsector of your hard disk.

You could go into the windows recovery console and try fixing the mbr from there. I forget the command. I'll try and look it up for you.

Sorry to mess you about XMS, I may just reinstall vista again and have another look at the network settings
