I recently installed vista 64 on a new build with striped 500GB HDD and 2 SATA DVD drives. MB is an MSI Platinum 750i. I installed the latest Nvidia storage drivers 9.95 from nforce 15.08 package. I kept getting the BSOD. the only way I could get Vista to boot from the DVD, let alone install, was to replace the DVD drives with IDE ones.
When I installed Vista, I tried to reconnect the SATA DVD drives. BSOD every bootup. Remove the drives, everthing was fine. I tried the 9.99 storage drivers from the 9.65 nforce package (for 780i/790i). No Luck
I worked away for a week or so on IDE DVD drives, no issue with Vista.
I recently installed the beta nvidia storage drivers from guru3d. The package is nforce 18.07. the storage driver is 10.3.0.16. I reconnected my SATA DVD drives. They work fine.
I only installed the storage driver, so I cant comment on the other drivers.
I unzipped the package with 7zip. this creates a setup folder with 2 more zip files vista32.exe and vista64.exe. Open up the appropriate archive, in my case the latter, go to the IDE\winvista64\ folder and extract the \sataraid folder. Then point windows to this folder to update the driver.
Hope this helps someone, as its enough of a pain installing Vista 64 without the BSODs.
