Anyone having problems with Virgin Media?

I've been playing all day and sometimes getting lag spikes and such. I can't even buffer a YouTube video for 2 seconds. Freezing every 1-2 seconds:(.



WTF do you call this Virgin Media. I have cup matches soon so this best be sorted out :(.

I'm constantly speed capped, but this wouldn't affect why videos aren't buffering, they're only YouTube vids :(, I know it's smaller than 4mb, since I uploaded myself. Webpages load just fine but my ping goes higher than others sometimes :(.

Not downloaded anything really tbh, they're a rubbish company, I miss NTL. I played 3 years solid on their connection without 1 lag problem or ping problem. I was on 512k connection and I had 12 ping, now I get 48-90 ping:(.
 
yeah i used to be with them aswell but 3 years ago we changed over to sky and its been flawless ever since, plus skys truely unlimited and i never get capped :)
 
I must also reccommend Sky.

Having used all the usual suspects Sky have come out best for me.

Took a while to get them though as they have had to gain access to the exchange.

Now get double the speed on the same bit of cable coming to my house.

Fibre optic is around this place, it's already being rolled out in some places, we have all the glass and stuff fitted here.
 
Had a few issues this evening, the missus was also watching a HD video though so I thought if was just that. Don't usually have issues with Virgin Media, but if was cr@p tonight :(
 
Last few days i have had problem and im on 20mb line.

As soon as it hit 12 oclock ill re test and as soon as it hits home time for kids ill re test again.

You tube seems to have gone down the drain on Virgin and haveing massive problems with it.
 
not had any problems since my 5 year old ntl modem died in jan, and never had a problem on that, had 2, 10, 20, 50 through virgin/ntl and no probs.



 
go figure paying for 20mb and getting 10mb

No change. and tested my wired connection and still at same speed.

Contacted Virgin and they say its a 20mb line hahaha. im dropping my contract back down to 10mb
 




It's very odd, this has been happening on my VM line today. That speed isn't consistent. It's been up to 68mbit somehow, and as low as 1-2. I only pay for 10 mbit line, though it seems above 20 today. The ping and packet loss has been terrible since late october and it's still not sorted. I'm getting some money back on this as it'll be more than half the year it's been out, and for 4 months of the other half I don't even live here!

My packet loss is anything from 5% to 95% depending on time of day. The UBR I'm on is oversubscribed due to students probably, and I haven't really been able to game at sensible times (i.e. not 3AM!) since oct. Really annoying as last year it was perfect, this year it's terrible. VM have taken on more business without allowing for the extra demand.
