If any1 was/is that interested in the history of gaming, or checking up on old gaming, there is the internet. A good few hours here and there and u will see all u need to see.
To use it as an excuse to educate is rediculous.
Now.. learning about programming games, starting from very old ones - that`s another thing.
Games programming is definately something they should offer to educate.
I think thats more wat it would be.. not just about the history.. like programming because it says it then leads onto things like IT and engineering and things..
That is shocking. I'm sure the mandatory curriculum involves a complete run through of the whole final fantasy series
Rast.. on my computing A level we did a bit of programming to make some games in visual basic (but not on the curriculum). That was pretty tough, even to make a little load of dots run around a screen killing each other. But worth it

Pfft we had to put up with writing our own games and programs @home cos the freakin teachers knew very little outside of pascal/cobol.
Not exactly something they`d emphasize on today 6502/68000. Simple games in this weren`t exactly rocket science, but it`s a learning curve. Then we had sprites and mobs.
