VIA might abandon chipset business

Its a big shame, but I don't blame them considering they always play 2nd fiddle to just about every other chipset maker.

They do make some decent chipsets these days, but they get zero recognition.

Tis a shame definetly, I quite like their chipsets. Whilst not as popular or maybe as good as other chipsets, they are/were reliable.

It's a shame I guess as they were cheap.

But their chipsets are/were probably the most problematic. Over the years I have repaired loads of systems with problems caused by Via chipsets/drivers.

Not surprising tho, as XMS said they always were second fiddle and with intel producing some excellent mobo's for not a lot more, why go cheap? :)

This is sad news.

I have never been let down by a VIA chipset.

I found they where very good for the normal run of the mill stuff. :)

Had a few good Via based AXP boards back in the day. I still use Via chipsets to this day for PC's I build for people. Stable, reliable, quick @ stock. It's a shame.
