Using CCFL (with or w/o inverter) to be used as HDD Indicator.

Sorry If I started this thread in the wrong place, but I can't find help anywhere...

Hey, I have a bunch off CCFL's and a couple inverters kickin around after my last mod-over on my rig, and did some thinking, and now I really want to know how to somehow set up something to use a CCFL with or without an inverter to be used as an HDD Indicator light.

I appreciate your honesty, that your scared and everything, you could have control over it, I just need to know what kind of relay to buy, connect it from the hdd light pin to the inverter. Just what type of relay and where to solder it to the inverter is what I'm curious about.

Senseless sound activated ccfls are just weak. I really dislike it when everytime I start a thread, the very first post or two is someone saying That`s a bad Idea, or Why would you want to do that.

If everyone was afraid of pushing the possibilities, we would have no computers, or anything else.

Other people online have done this, but the threads were so old I couldn`t contact anyone for details regarding procedure.

...I'm not scared - I genuinely think it's a really bad idea because it would look shit :P

If you do want to do it...

The hdd activity pins just provide the power to the led, and cut the power rapidly. This wouldnt be enough power to power a cathode kit though I dont think, so you'd probably need to change that so it just switches the cathodes on and off, while the ccfls get their power from another source - ie - molex.
