USB light controller via software?

I'm looking at controlling the lights inside my case via software on my PC. I just want on/off functionality. I have been looking at USB relay controllers (e.g. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/USB-8-Channel-Relay-Board-RS232-Serial-controlled-/280591766649) but they all seem to be for AC external devices for home automation, not 12v DC.

Anyone have any idea where i can by a controller for this from? Or any other way of being able to control the lights via software?

Cheers guys :)

I've got some UV SMD strips and i have a couple spots for blue LED's. The only thing i can think of is a single physical switch controlled by a USB servo

You can get LED strips from Phobya that you can change the colours of with a remote control - not sure if that's any good?

You've just given me a brainwave - I wonder if you can get a USB IR transmitter? Seen recievers, but if you had a transmitter, you could use it to control that.

FWIW, the phobya controller is good, but the quality of their RGB flexlights is pretty dodgy. Had two lots that were dead out of the box (split at the solder point), so gave up. Got some strips from Maplin, and they sell them in Ikea, but if you do so be aware that it switches the green and blue channels, so you get some different colours than on the remote.

I've just ended up buying a USB relay controller, will let you guys know how well it goes in my Solar Storm project log!
