US Bans Kaspersky antivirus software and sanctions executives

They can pursue "legal options" all they want. The US won't care and will ignore them. What they going to do then? Lol

Honestly people just need to learn how to use a computer safely. That's the best defense. Windows Defender is good enough these days.

Hate to say it.. the average person on a computer is still stupid AF.

Browses facebook, ooh look a game. Proceeds to external URL and boop. Spamware installed.

Won't dispute that. It's been true for decades. I don't understand how some people struggle with technology, minus the elderly. They aren't complicated tools.

It's easy for anyone with knowledge of something to say to/about someone without knowledge of said thing...

You are right. Although I agree with NeverBackDown, as well. I understand to an extent, but not fully, why some people struggle to learn some basic things about tech. I understand that some people are just not intelligent enough and they process things slower, but I know some very intelligent and highly educated people who struggle with some basic tech stuff. It can be a bit infuriating.

Can vouch for this my niece downloaded an MP3 of a song got viruses went and cleaned it all up for her put nod32 on it for her a week later she calls with the same issue same mp3 I discovered, she ignored the warning from nod32 and downloaded it anyway

It's amazing to me that people still say, "I'm not good at computers" when they use a computer every day all day at work. If you can't use the tool required to do your job, then you shouldn't have the job. I deal with this almost daily at work and people are stunned when I tell them it was a great excuse in the 90's, but it only makes you look stupid today.

We would get along at your work :D

There's something about the new generation though. I have friends with kids and they have taken to whatever device they get their hands. Andoird, iOS, Windows, doesn't matter. I know 4-year-olds who are more capable on an electronic device than a 90-year-old who lives by himself and has survived through all sorts of challenges. She has a mardy when mum forgets the hummus for her veggies, but she can hack her dad's phone and take silly selfies.

Because parents stuff these cheap tablets into their face at extremely young ages instead of playing with the child because it's easier.

The result is very tech savvy kids who have less than ideal social skills.

ah.. this is my favourite kind of coffee break. When I get a message from the IT guys for a timeout, and we sit and discuss the findings of the week. I'm shocked at some of the comments from them.

On the company shared folders a long while back. They found ISO of illegally pirated games, wedding photos/albums, and even P*rn. These people actually thought the public folders were private. And the worst being the pirated games, so when the offender was pulled up on this his response was "I know alot about computers, i didnt think you guys would notice"

Anyway.. isnt Kaspersky one of the best AVs of them all?

Maybe that's other children but I see my friend multiple times per week and have watched him raise his daughter by climbing mountains, surfing, holidays, biking, playing games, make-believe. She just also happens to have time allotted to a device.

That's not what I said though. He's doing things with his daughter. Many parents just replace themselves with the tablet because it's easier than engaging with a child.

Sorry, yeah, you're right. It's funny watching him be a dad. He's Italian and whenever his daughter is being naughty he picks her up in a really diffident way and walks out with her whispering in Italian. Hah!
