US Air Force To Use Botnets In Cyber Warfare?

Didn`t they have a fake wargame thing with a room full of guyz to see how much damage they could do to infrastructure as a form of cyber attack - and they actually did alot of theoretical damage. Think there was a program about that sorta thing out recently.

It wouldn't surprise me in the slightest mate, they probably have. I can't think of any program that comes to mind regarding this, but if you can remember the name I would be very appreciative.

Might be able to tell ya when I get home, I watched it on Sky Anytime over the weekend. Was a History/National Geographic or similar.

mmmm anyone else think of "SKYNET"?

the C.I.A. ran a fake war simulation on a supercomputer to judge how well they would do in a war on Iraq.

Lol yeah the first thing I thought of was Terminator ;)

Yeah the problem with computer simulations and warfare is that it comes undone rather quickly when you deal with an enemy that doesn't operate in a traditional manner. To further reinforce this statement you only need to have a look at the issues that the United States had when trying to find Bin Laden. A lot of those groups don't operate like a traditional army, i.e they don't rely on satellites for communication, but instead rely on word of mouth. Their military manoeuvres are more stealth attack and commando-like than fighting on fronts. I can't see botnets making much of a difference against these guys.
