Hi all

I'm heading over to the states on Friday and will be picking up a few new components:

Looking at:

E8600 Processor

Mobo - Undecided (help required) Thinking P5K Wifi

Ram - OCZ Reaper 1066mhz 2gb

Graphics - 8800 GTS

Raptor 10k 150GB Sata Drive

Thinking a 650w psu to drive that lot

i'll be running Vista Ultimate 32bit

I'll be looking to buy from Newegg.com but can anyone recommend any good US online stores to buy from that might be cheaper?

Cheers guys your a big help!!!

Most of the shops out there are fairly competitive.

Just don't get caught coming back through customs mate or it's time to fork out lots of cash :(

I only use them and TigerDirect really. There`s ZipZoomFly (not used them myself).. Check some stores like CompUSA/Fryz for in-store deals too.

Thanks for the tips guys!

I believe you're allowed a £300 allowance which i won't exceed customs wise

what d'u think about the p5k wifi to go with the e8600?

Right change of plan slightly!

going for an e8500 and saving $100 bucks!

What do you guys think to the 8800GTS (G92)

I'll be using this comp for office work and Flight Sim X and thats the only game i'm looking to play.

I could stretch to an 8800 Ultra if its going to make a huuuuuge difference but i heard FSX is more about processor power over graphics cards

right final question really!

10K Raptor 150gb for $174.99

or

250gb Seagate Barracuda drive for $59.99

Does the 10k drive give a $110 buck performance gain?

By the way... You going to see family or staying in a hotel?? If you're staying in a hotel, those shops wont send to one. Tiger Direct wont accept international credit cards wither.. Not 100% sure on Newegg.

thanks for the info guys!

I'm still concerend over which mobo to go with for the e8500 can anyone recommend one or will the p5k wifi go well?

cheers guys!

another question opps

Will any parts conflict with a UK PSU?

thanks for the heads up about the international credit card issue i'd have to check that!

cheers

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130090

at only $199.99 am I missing something? Seems like it would be worth the extra 20-30 buck jump in price over a g92 8800GTS

Final spec is as follows, off on Friday afternoon so comments welcome!

Mobo - P5k premium

Pro - e8500

Mem - OCZ Platinum 1066 DDR2 2x1GB

HD - 250GB Barracuda

OS - Vista Home Premium 32bit

PSU - 500W

Case - Undecided

Sound - Xfi XtremeGamer

Let me know whatcha thinks

Many thanks for all your help guys much appreciated!!!!!!!

Ouch $861!!!!
