Upgrade help?

I find myself in a bit of a conundrum - I am looking to upgrade components, this will probably be GPU and Mobo.

Currently I have persivore modded 7950GX2 and P5WDH - I also have a p5b dlx (unmodded).

I have been benching what I have recently to see how it fairs against other competition as featured in our current mbot league tables - to be honest it holds it's own nicely - even managed to imporve my pcm04 scores :) In fact if I had time I would hook the phase up again as I think I would improve on most of my curretn scores.. in particular 3dm01, 03 and AQM3.

But I am considering my options and would like to be able to contribute to the team with some revised scores with newer kit.

The issue I have is that SLI seems to be the only way to get a improvement on my scores which also affer an improvement in everyday gaming etc - the downside being I need a new mobo with a nvidia chipset on it and that the power consumption become a bit higher.

I am looking to see what you would upgrade to (from what I have) given the choice.

I hear that the 680 chipset from nvida is a good one for clocking- but also hear that it has issue on the southbridge, I dont know what issues just that it has some, feel free to expand on this.

It could just be that I wait a few months before I upgrade to see what else turns up hardware wise.

I am leaning toward 8800GTS (persivore modded me thinks) SLI and ASUS P5N32-E SLI or use the P5B (get that modded) and a sinlge 8800GTX (again persivore modded)

Express yourselves here pls.

Cheers

I would hold off for a bit mate, what with DDR4 cards coming out and DDR3 M/B's.

But will that be happening this year though?

Mav - If you can wait, R600 will be out in 4-5 weeks so it might be more fun playing with a new card? Also the 8900's are coming soon aswell, so it might not be a good idea to spend your money now

I agree - the 8800's have been out for a while now. it may be worth waiting for the new lot to come out...

Also, this ABIT AB9 QuadGT is much more friendly than the P5B-D I had. With none of those annoying BOOT issues that the P5B suffers it may be worth considering :)
