Upgrade help

hey

ive got a dell inpsirion 1300 laptop

im wondering can i upgrade the processor and maybe the ram

is it easy to do it yourself or should i send it off

pls HELP ME

What are the laptops current specs?

Memory and HDD upgrads on laptops are a breeze, all can be upgraded in those ways. As far as the processor you just need to know whether or not it's socket based or directly soldered to the mainboard. Obviously if its soldered u can't upgrade it, if it has a socket then you SHOULD be able to upgrade to any processor within the same family and socket type.

I'm unfamiliar with whether or not Dell solders the CPU's in. I know all of my Apple notebooks are all soldered.

do you have the tools to open it up?

Every laptop I've stripped down before only required a jewelers screwdriver set and 2 small Torx bits. The most complicated lappy I ever stripped down bare to the case was my MacBook Pro, and that only required 3 different screw drivers IIRC.

that's all good and well, but a bottle of wine's not much cop without a corkscrew!

Ram -- More than likely can be expanded from your current quantity check its max capacity@crucial.com (lol some spam bot is gonna have fun)

Cpu -- maybe a lot of mobile motherboards have a screw fastened socket and given dell like bulk motherboards and some degree of processor flexibility -- id hazard that it is screw fastened; open it to find out

[OC3D and I take no responsibility for your actions and their consequences --- I cant believe i had to state that obvious]
