Upgrade from the AX for MPG purposes

Fuel consumption (urban) 34.4 mpg

Fuel consumption (extra urban) 55.4 mpg

Fuel consumption (combined) 45.6 mpg

Is apparently what my current car does...that doesn't regard shite traffic and travelling 70+ in a car with 4 gears :(

I'm looking to go FIVE GEAR :eek: next car lol, wondering what I should shortlist, something with real good travelling efficiency, not too much to insure and not too big (little cars are pretty useful)
 
Most people complain, and I myself have only driven petrol cars (but then I've only been driving 4 years lol), however Diesel cars usually have really good efficiency.

For example my parents just got back from Holiday where the rental car was a Peugot 207 Diesel I think and they said they were getting around 50-60 miles to the gallon (depending on what kinds of roads they were on) which is pretty good.

Obviously there'll be better cars MADE for efficiency but theyll be a lot more to begin with and it may take a while to earn it back.

I must say though, I am in no way an expert. I can only comment on things I've heard.
 
Peugot 306 D turbo are awsome and with 90bhp they shift aswell,i have seen quite a few of them roming around

ford KA they just a small card lol

peugot 106/107 the 107 is group 1 incurance and tax

ford focus (deasel) just make sure its after the 1999 mark

volx polo.i had the 1997 1.4 version and it was actualy quite efficient

but when you do change the car,you could get a aftermarket airfilter,they boost a lil bit of power but they also bring out more efficiency in the engine
 
Thanks so far, diesel does seem to be good for runners, my current car is 50bhp lol, so anything will feel shifty :)
 
yer the pug 306 D turbo are tanks,some of them even have rally chassis so they handle like there on rails,the only downside is they are quite loud in idle and high revs.

also the 92bhp version is a 1.9 8v

i think its group 5
 
remember tho if u get a diesel and go to top gear dont stand at the front incase jeremy clarkson makes fun of you ha ha
