is ios 5 out. my bro has my laptop with itunes for his homework. with the cloud can you redownload videos you purchased

Just got done and working!!! The only thing other than the widgets on the android that I liked was the notification bar, now iPhone has it. Suck that android!!!

a quick roundup of the important and the not fussed:
important:
double click menu button when installed, to not only launch audio controls, but now a dedicated camera button
swipe down from the top to the bottom of the screen to open notification center
iMessage for those wondering works by detection...if you and your friend are both of wifi networks and both running ios5, it will auto switch to it, instead of texting, but it is automatic, you can not tell it to do it...
the + button can be used now to snap pics instead of using the onscreen software button
enabling icloud alows a lot of things to happen, such as a convo in imessage being transfered between say an iphone and an ipad, but icloud needs to be enabled on both devices for that to happen, then you can end a convo on the iphone and switch to the ipad, aslong as its on a wifi network, and the person you want to message is also on a wifi network,,,,

reminders? ...thats nice...dont care
video's and music now seperate apps instead of being both under ipod...again, not fussed, messing for the sake of messing...

i kept getting 'an internal error occoured'
if you get this, keep trying, over and over, and over and over and over, and it will eventually take
its that apples servers are being rammed up the back ally by people trying to update and are auto rejecting half the requests they get.

i deleted all music and movies (10gb) and it has taken an hour to bup. and its at less than 10%

My colleague updated to OS5 and he wasn't that impressed tbh. Add to that he also updated his wife's phone and the backup went to sh** and she lost everything. Luckily most of the contacts were recovered and they had copies of photos/videos on the Computer.
However he did say that the little changes like the dedicated camera button when unlocking did make some things more convenient
. We might be seeing another Legal battle between Apple and Android due to Apple adding a Notification bar.

Tbh I thought apple was just following android with the whole notification thing, but I like the notifications a lot better on iPhone.

Im not fussed on it at all. I prefered the on off toggles as rounded rectangles. Now im stuck with circles ffs

I also like how you have 3 different options for notifications. It's funny because notifications is what android was known for, yet it seems apple thought it through more.
I updated my iPhone and iPad to the offical GM release of iOS 5 last night with no problems. Nothing new though from the beta.
I also updated my wife's iPhone.
My brother had some major issues with his update so I had to use DFU mode to restore his phone. Got everything back up and running, but he lost his pics. I'm going to try and extract them from a previous backup.

Yea I have heard their were major issues for some. My dad had the same issue, after contacting apple support they simply said to give it a few days.

I'm updating my 3GS now... any issues won't bother me as I'm going to be getting the 4S anytime after tomorrow.
I decided to skip over the 4s this gen just like i did the 3gs. While I will be missing the 7x GPU performance in games, i figure my iphone 4 has enough speed to last me another year or two for the iphone 5.
I would have waited too, but I only bought the 16GB iPhone 4. Not enough space. I opted for the 32GB 4S this time around. Also, selling my 4 I should be able to make almost everything back that I paid for it. Win-win.

True dat. I was thinking about selling too. I am still waiting for Infinity Blade II!!
They actually took the idea from LockInfo, a system utility from the jailbreak community (which is still better than the stupid notification center).

I have never jail broken my phone. I never saw the need to pay full price for the phone? I tgaught you could purchase withou a plan? Rather pay full price? I'll check in it later
