Updated to NVIDIA 331.82 - Performance hit

So I've used 320.49 for a long time because I heard the horror story about newer ones, but my 320 crashed sometimes in games for no reason, despite being fine in others for hours on end.

So bit the bullet and updated. System seems stable, haven't done intense test yet.

But I went into a UDK game I usually play. with SLI enabled, in this open field, with 320.49, I got around 150+ FPS. Now I get about 90FPS. That's a huge hit. I'm running a 120HZ monitor, so I'd rather be closer to 150 than 90, as you can imagine.

It added a new SLI compatibility bit for the UDK as well, which works fine it seems, I tired the old one I used, which was for BL2, and which gave me incredible performance, and it gave the same as this new one.

My performance is well...crap now. I didn't do any before and afters so it may be placebo effect, but it seems like the game runs worse. It doesn't feel "smooth" anymore, and kinda has more micro-stutter than I remember.

So, update.

The game still has the NVIDIA Display Driver has stopped responding thing

HOWEVER

In this case it RECOVERs - but oddly it happens constantly...

And yet...I played for two hours after updating, no problem. Today though, it's crashing every 21-3 minutes, and temps are fine on both.

when updating recent nvidia drivers i never use their clean-install option.
i use uninstall tool to forcefully remove them, and its' orphans from the drives and the registry.
then i use ccleaner to double-check that it is gone, for good.

i have done this for the last year or so, and even now i still have been getting driver errors "the driver stopped responding, but was recovered".

i have reverted back to the last driver that did not do this... 314.22.

Yes, of course I always uninstall and clean everything.l I've been doing that since around 2008.

And yes, I heard something about 314.22 being the last good ones, but I kinda hoped...maybe, I thought , a miracle, even...that somehow I wouldn't experience it.

Because well, while a large number of users do, a percentage does not, I was hoping to be part of the small percentage.

So, I used uninstall tool, went to 314.22

Booted up said game I mentioned in my firs tpost _ I haven't tested it's stability yet, but my FPS went up MASSIVELY, it was NOT Placebo!

At an area where I got 77FPS, I now get 115FPS V-Sync, or 170+ uncapped!

My GPU usage is up from 45-55% each to 88-95% Each! NOW that's good.

God damn though, I shouldn't have to DO THIS! Can only hope the game is stable now, though, can't play now, but will report back on findings.

*********** Crashed and did not recover like the new drivers. But god, the performance is SO much better...314.22 by the way.

So it must be my systems. GT670 SLI. Performance is fine across them...but. Both cards sit around 60-65c @ 99%... clocked good...why does this happen...CPU maxes around 55c tops... Some games run absolutely perfect, then others don't. I had real high hopes for 314.22 as well, after the stories I heard.

Yes, my second GPU is no long boosting, despite being enabled, and if it does it keeps shifting between non boosted and boosted, causing my FPS to fluxuate heavily.
