Up to date overclocking toolkit :)

Hey guys and possibly gals.

I had to go back to stock due to some serious instability but something doesn't feel right....stockness thats what!

I need to make a folder sometime of all overclocking tools I will need, from overclocking the cpu (well through bios, but i need tools to test stability and temps) to overclocking my 8800gt (settings, temperatures and stability).

Maybe the list we compile could come in handy in the future - so state a program/programs and say why

Cheers!

feel free to move to the other overclocking section

prime 95 for stability.

And everest or hwmonitor for temps.

PC Mark or Everest for benchmarks.

Thats all I use when doing stuff for myself and not needed loads of results for a review.

edit

afterbuner (overclock) and kombustor (bench/stress test) for gpu

I'd say Intel Burn Test for cpu stressing. Prime 95 is great, but can take ages to find errors. IBT is a lot harsher with the testing so temps will be around 10C higher, but it finds errors so much faster! (eg my old e8500 ran prime 95 for around 4 hours, but failed IBT after about 5 minutes lol)

I use real temp and gpuz like nepas said, never used HWmonitor though so that might be better if it can monitor both.

Then more obvious ones like CPU-z, just gives you nice info about your cpu/ram and now gpu too :)

cool guys cheers

got my 8800gt on 700/1800/1000 and CPU @ 300fsb 2699mhz

going up slowly on the cpu but think thats the limit on the 8800gt or near enough anyway!

What type of 88 is yours?

you may be able to get some more from it,depends on what cooling you have and if you want to flash the bios with some more voltage

evga with a accelero s1 + 2 overclock fans

512mb

will flashing more voltage mean actual better results or just e-peen?

flashing bios sounds a bit permanent :)

The extra volts can help stablise a highclock. I had the 8800gt in heaven & hell running on a soft volt mod, I forget the actual numbers nor but it did make a noticable difference on the core clocks.
