Unlock fan speed on Gigabyte GTX 460

That's effing clever then. Nvidia must like either doing RMAs or skanking people. I'm still chuffed off over my dead 280. Especially when all evidence points to their chuffed driver. I lost £60 over that.

Sorry if I have missed it, but did you create your own profile with MSI Afterburner?

Basically you can set the fan speeds to certain % when you hit certain temps. Since doing so with my 3870x2 (a ruddy hot git) it's never been over 58.

I know GPUs (especially Nvidias) are rated to over 100c but trust me when I say you don't want them over 80c, ever. Apparently the under 80c thing was the secret in keeping the 8800 high end cards alive.

Yes i made my own fan profile with afterburner where when the card heats up to 65c the fan runs 100%. At this moment with ambient room temps of 22c the cards goes to max 62c (with 800mhz) using msi kombustor with fan speed 78%.

I got an bios update and windows flashtool from Gigabyte (for the 1GB version)

Works fine. After the bios update the fan speed goes to 100%

Both cards flashed, the utility only flashes the primary card so had to switch cards around and flash a 2nd time. looks to work fine on the fan control.

Looks like 1.213V is available

I assume that the asus V is higher?

LOL after looking at again it doesn't, work V is still 1.087 max.

Found a Gigabyte bios the has the voltage unlocked but the fan speed was back to 70%
