the phoyba UV LED lighting looks fugly.

the ARGB lighting and the white case blow the effect away / the effect isn't worth doing, even in a pitch black room.



i will post more pics as the rig evolves. but... for now, i am more than happy with it.

if Corsair made ML fans with the LL ARGB fan features, i would swap the Riing lighting... but they do not at the moment.

Jonsbo make some outstanding ring fans. Probably where Thermal take took the design from.

so, the Riing fans that came with the ThermalTake watercooling bundle are not PWM.
and, the lighting from the fans are not really adding to the feel of this rig.

also, with being just 3-pin they are very LOUD, when the reducers are not fitted. with the reducers fitted, they do not cool enough.

i would not recommend them.

after much researching and debating i have decided to go with these:

yes, i know they are loud at full RPM, but they will only be like that when my BEAST is working flat out - and it will not be for long periods of time.

when these are at idle, or even gaming, (using the Apex mobo's Q-fan modes) they will not be heard, maybe not even on at all.

i chose these as i have researched them as being the best static pressure fans available so far (IMHO).

depending on how these fair, i may also end up replacing the chassis's rear exhaust to a NF-A14-IPPC-2000-PWM fan.

the rig is now complete:

it is quiet as a mouse when not under load, but when it is 4.8GHz at full throttle it's like a jet plane taking off.
but the extra 6 (yes SIX) degrees lower temps are worth it.

and this is what my rig sits at most of the time... in utter silence:

sometimes i have to look at the rig to see if it is actually ON... it is that quiet!!!
"Silent, but deadly".

for comparison, here is where my 'noisy' old i7-870 (OC'd to 4GHz) stood...

Yup that is bang on twice the score I get on my 14/28 BE Xeon @ 3ghz so pretty amazing

Depends how easy that monoblock is to remove. I usually remove the CPU block and hang it over a bucket, then open. Or take out the GPU and put it over a bucket and open. Stopped using coloured coolant though 'cause it bloody stains everything ! I've got a towel that looks like it was used at the scene of a murder ffs.

Yeah could never do soemthing like that. I know my luck would result in residue coolant dripping out as I lift the case again. I just found having one drain value made things so much simpler. Just put it in the lowest point of the loop.

it will be getting hard-lined when i put a new gpu in it. i will eventually be swapping the 1060OC6GB for a 1180tiSTRIX when (and/or if) they get released.

this was my first custom loop. i guess i maybe one of the lucky ones for it to go without a hitch.

the res/combo is a tight fit in the case.

the contract job this rig is currently doing will pay for itself, and pay for the propsed new gpu, and a new hard-lined loop. probably in september-ish

Don't get hooked like me. Watercooling gets out of control fast haha. Just made an order for £400 on cooling parts only. and that didnt include any blocks :O
