Uhm faulty motherboard?

A few days ago I asked about some tips about overclocking. I had bought a new powersupply since the old one got struck by lightning. Yesterday I was putting the new one in and things looked very good until I plugged the screen in.

I just couldn't get a visual.. Everything got power it seemed. I tested my screen at another computer and it worked. The motherboard got power and it even reacted when I tested to give the SLI setup less power than needed.

I can't really test the graphiccards I'm afraid. So either something at the motherboard is broken even though it appears to work perfectly. Nothing is burned. Is it even possible that the motherboard is partly broken due to a lightningstrike? One would think that it's impossible that the graphiccards break before the motherboard.

Any tips on what to do? Or should I just replace my ASUS a8n prem motherboard? And if so should I pick the same or another board?

i am not too suprised tbh my premium board failed on me for no reason and i couldnt get any video from it like you.(maybe yours was due to the lightning but who knows)

in my case i just bought a dfi ultra d and discarded the premium to its box in the cupboard lol

i would suggest you get a dfi instead of another asus, dfi's are really great boards.

cheers.

alright. The company I usually order from that delivers fast doesn't have the dfi cards :/

They stopped selling the asus a8n prem cards aswell. But they do have 3 demo ex that they're selling for 93 dollars roughly. That's pretty cheap so I'll probably buy it this monday if I get my internet and new mastercard by then. If the cards are sold by then I'll just cry :<

I also noticed that if I had ordered by enermax psu 3 days later then I would have saved 40 dollars. Lucky me... I must have done something that I'm getting punished for! :p

do u have an old pci gfx card that u can use to test to see if the mobo is dead? u could even buy an old second hand one for super cheap. or do u have a friend with a pci-e card that he would let u use to test ur board with?
