UD3 = WOW!!

I needed to update my mainboard as I was still using the Crosshair Formula III back from 2009. As some of you are aware I did have a sabertooth by ASUS 990FX and so far I am on my second time sending it in, which means once I get it back I will be selling it. SO I went to Frys Electronics and had to make a decision between the UD7, UD5, and UD3. My needs were 2x16 slots, AM3+, and the ability to OC the crap out of and AMD chip. So I needed something that will take the abuse. All three boards used a 8+2 power phase and the only difference setting the UD3, UD5, and UD7 was aesthetics, and large GPU configs. So I saved a few buck, got the UD3 for $120 (I love sales) and I have not turned back. (http://valid.canardp....php?id=2193670 )

The UD3 offers the 2 x16 slots I need/wanted and offers the same overclock ability as the UD7.

Also I know those volts seem high, but that was what I needed to stay stable at 4.1ghz. My max temp is 48c with my Cooler Master V6.

That seems pretty high, yes. Then again, It's a long time since I've had anything to do with an AMD processors.

Anyway, that motherboard is really good compared to what it cost's. The UD3 generally is a good value choice if you are looking for a decent motherboard, but one that still brings you some great features. There are plenty of times where I've simply been amazed at how they can make a board like this and sell it this cheep. Cheers, Gigabyte! And congratulations on your OC, if it's stable and all.

I have a good CPU, the downside is that in order to hit above 4ghz, i have to REALLY crank the voltages up. But its a good mobo, and my temps are also good, so I fear not.

im running the exact same volts at the exact same clock... As long as you dont exceed 1.55 you are good i think.

Even then you should still be okay, as long as you have a motherboard that can take it and proper cooling solution.

I have not check what bios version I have. Also I am trying to figure out what revision UD3 I have so I can update. they have a 1.0, 1.1, and a 1.2?

Yeh I have the first one v1.0, I had various problems with temp sensors reporting wrong CPU socket temps often and it had some very bad Vdroop

There's various updates and the latest is the F6 beta bios but its rubbish and makes all the original problems worse than before but I'm on bios version F4 and everything has been good

Also, when I originally got the board I was confused at the Hwmonitor temp readings cos they were set out like

TMPIN0

TMPIN1

TMPIN2

I spoke to people who had this board and they were telling me TMPIN2 was the CPU socket temp but its not! TMPIN2 is the north bridge and TMPIN1 is the CPU

Something I thought I should share just in case you didn't know that already
