u2412m and a 7870

I have just ordered a new Dell u2412m monitor. I'm hoping it's decent. The reviews seem decent. But will my sapphire 7870 2gb be sufficient to power the 1920x1200 res? I didn't really think about this before I ordered but oh well. I don't mind tuning up the gpu if need to. But on stock clocks can a 7870 run that screen on max setting on most games?
 
I mostly play wow and cod. Neither are too demanding. I just know the missus was not very happy when I suggested that I may need another gpu upgrade when I only got the 7870 a month ago!
 
I just received my U2412M and it is AWESOME! All I had to do is turn down the brightness when I got it... I have it running on a DisplayPort with 3 other monitors on my GTX 670 FTW. When I play GTA IV on the Dell only, I get between 40-60 FPS.

ok, thx. btw i know that my bluray software will not play over vga or dvi., total media theater 5. but will it work over displayport?
 
My GTX 670 detects it as a HDCP display... In theory it should detect is as HDCP and work that way. You might check with the software company (google it, lol) under what terms will it play copyright protected content... If it detects HDCP then it should work... I could understand it not working under VGA, but DVI should work... But I could be wrong... I bought a cheap DisplayPort cable on amazon from some no-name brand, because I couldn't find a full size DisplayPort to full size DusplayPort cable from a well known brand... It works perfectly...

BAHAHAHA! I know right.... I think the box is like the tardis- it's bigger on the inside! I'm thinking about getting 2 more so I can have three monitors and my 42" plasma tv connected... ������

i couldnt deal with that.i used to be a 20" secondry and a 22" main screen, now the 22" is seccondray and this beast is my new main, i have to turn my head a lot to look at my second screen now
 
I have mine in portrait now "mainly for the heck of it, just wanted tod see how it looks). I'm switching it back to landscape later today... I can't imagine plying a FPS game in portrait, lol... I have 2 Dell 19" on both sides running on DVI...

LOL I have the same monitor and when I got mine a month ago it nearly burned my eyes to a crisp:lol:. I have my brightness turned all the way down almost. It is a very good monitor for the money and I am really happy with my purchase, glad to hear you are too
 
is this monitor good for fps? I bought 1 and will receive it in 3 days. Bought it mainly for work. So i can read better and have a little more real estate. What do you guys think?

its good all-round m8, the stand is brilliant.
