Two Gigabyte AM4 motherboards have been pictured

Gigabyte cutting it to the bone. No VRM cooling, so this board will not work with the decent Zen chips. I'd say that is a £45 board.

I thought this one was the budget one? It would be understandable that it didnt cool them.

Yeah, these are likely budget-oriented boards for prebuilt systems and budget-oriented PCs.

If it is not intended for overclocking additional cooling isn't entirely necessary.

Surely AM4 launches alongside Bristol Ridge, rather than Zen?, meaning these boards should hit the market fairly soon.

Zen is an APU.

No Zen is an architecture and a CPU only.
Bristol Ridge is an APU based off Excavator, but on the AM4 platform. So having video IO on the back is needed.

APUs based off Zen won't come till end of next year. But then it will be called something else at that time with a different codename

Believe it or not, even certain modern gaming notebooks come with VGA. Looking at you Gigabyte!!! Seems really stupid to include a VGA instead of an extra DP or something..

Yeah plus monitors supporting VGA are slowly being phased out.
