Researchers uncover firmware backdoor in hundreds of Gigabyte motherboards

Ok so this sounds BAD!

I never used Gigabyte boards after the issues I had with an LGA1366 X58 Extreme board, but after my brother in law, didn't have the money to buy an MSI board, he got the Gigabyte X570 Elite, and it has been rock solid.

So much so that when I went to my 5950x I got the same board, and have recommended it to a few people.

Good news is, that board doesn't appear on the list and it doesn't look like my MSI X570 board is on there either, so I should be safe but you never know.

Hopefully it will be fixed quickly for those affected!

One of the first things I did after building my current rig, which uses a Gigabyte motherboard on this list, was to turn off "APP Center Download & Install" in BIOS. I noticed immediately that the Gigabyte service couldn't be stopped from within Windows and it bothered me, so I switched it off in BIOS and that's it.

These types of "services" are a cancer on hardware industry. We don't need that crap. We never did and we never will.
