True HD screen size

I assumed it had to be a 24" monitor and anything less was not true HD i.e. 1920 x 1080.

Am I wrong? I'll get a 22" monitor in the future otherwise and not a 24"

The size of the screen means nothing whatsoever - it's all about the pixel resolution.
It's why the new MacBook Pros, with Retina Display, have far greater resolution than a 70" TV.

Well for regular consumers true HD is anything above 720p. The size of the monitor doesn't matter when it comes to HD, it comes down to the resolution. You can purchase 22" or even smaller monitors with a 1080p resolution.

not so long ago (about 4yrs ago) true 1080p was only available on screens 32"+
but today, you can get 1080p on 21.5" TVs and monitors.

it will not be long before hand-held tablets and other portable devices have 1080p too

as above, years ago when the process manufacture was immature 32" and above was the only way to get 1080p.

nowardays as technology has advanced, physical screen size is irrelevant as its all down to dpi (dots per inch) that create the resolution. the smaller the screen the more dpi have to be crammed in.

you can get full hd 1080p screens in 19" now, but why you would want it in a screen that small is beyond me as the more dpi you pack into a tighter space, the higher the refresh rate becomes and therefore possibilities of ghosting on fast images occurs.

i have an lg m227wdp (22" 1080p) tv which doubles as my pc monitor and my console screen, its pretty good at what it does and the 1080p is silky smooth, yet there is slight blurring on very fast moving objects (tennis serves etc) that i don't see on the 42" in the living room
