Total War: Attila Can't be Maxed on Current Hardware! Creative Assembly say that the game is "more demanding" than Rome II with the maximum quality setting is designed for "future cards". Let's hope the game still looks impressive on current hardware, and isn't full of bugs at launch.

Basically translates to "we can't be arsed to release proper 4k textures so we'll just pretend nothing can run it".

If they magically leave the settings in, there is one forum member who can test their statement ;)

I think I may have something that can run it.:D

If this is anything like RTW2 the fault is entirely with the game devs who took ages before it was possible to run it on multi GPU setups.

Next-next gen knowing CA, hopefully things have improved on the CPU side. TW really needs DX12 and/or mantle support.

I have the game.. spent about 30mins last night at launch benching with my 7950 at 1000/1250.. safe to say with all the max settings and extra features enabled i maintain only 24fps, game consumed 2.4GB of vram. Pretty impressive. Turned off mlaa/unlimited video memory and dropped all the terrain/water/sky features to performance and effects to quality(everything else ultra) and no special effects. I got it 40fps. While the terrain quality did suffer it wasn't noticeable except when you actively looked at it. Everything else was noticeable. This game needs DX12 or Mantle. It needs that with a new/modern engine since the current was is a heavily modified 2009 engine. If they could get this done it would solve many performance problems and really help the long ass AI turns( i know why it takes forever but its still annoying).

So in short CA have found a way of giving their refusal to optimise games a positive PR spin...

I wouldn't say that. I did not experience any issues whatsoever. My only problem was with framerate. Even then playing with settings one by one and benching the game you can see the performance change. Each setting does effect the overall performance. It's not the most beautiful game but its good enough considering the old engine.

There's no point in using 4k textures with this game. No system would even be able to run it. Hell even a 290x/980 in Xfire/SLI wouldn't be able to maintain it. No point in putting effort into it when nothing will be able to maintain it. You would probably be able to with Ultra 4k textures but everything else would be set on "max performance" which would defeat the purpose in the first place.
2 people.. kappstad and Dice:p
Still this game won't handle Xfire/SLI well after. They didn't scale well with 2 in Rome 2.

You really are asking what these mean? You should at least know CA= Creative Assembly and TW= Total War in a thread about CA devs and TW series..

Have you tried CF or SLI with it yet

With RTW2 SLI works fine but CF was broken last time I tried it. I talked to an AMD rep a few months ago and he said they were working on it but I have not tried it with the latest 14.12 drivers yet.

Yes, I'm pretty certain I was... since I'm not English and I didn't understood/know what they meant/stood for. Hence me asking.
Is that a problem?, since last time I checked, no questions are stupid or have that changed?...

And no, not really, I shouldn't. Cause I'm not that into games, I just play certain ones for the fun of it and I read the news here cause I enjoy reading them :)

It's like saying that I should know everything about a cars engine, just because I drive it.

No i haven't. I only have one card. The TW games recently have favored Nvidia cards by quite a bit. I know SLI worked fine but didn't get you much more performance and i know Xfire worked just no improvements.

14.12 drivers don't have any improvements to the game. No driver they have right now will get you more performance. I tried checking the driver page but it's "unavailable". Might be prepping for a new driver? idk. In fact when you launch the launcher, with my 14.12 drivers it actually says "drivers may be out of date, please update" You can still click play but its just a warning.

There is nothing wrong with asking questions.:)

There is loads of stuff I don't know either.:)

Just re installing RTW2 to see how it goes on my NVidia cards with the latest drivers.

If that is ok I will grab a copy of Attila TW and give it a go.:)

Thank you sir and I bet you guys know more than I do, which has been proven once more in this thread ;)

God damn you guys are using shortcuts for words! :p... I keep confusing that "TW" for the "The Walking dead" lol... not really fully the same, but almost :p

Just run RTW2 maxed @4K on my 980s @stock and got this

Downloading Attila TW now so I will see how I get on.

Anyone know why I can not select DRA which is supposed to work with Haswell CPUs as I am using a 5960X.

Just run Attila TW, it is not that demanding maxed out but the drivers for multi GPU support are useless.

Here is a couple of screenshots of a single GTX 980 @1080p using maximum settings.

4K is quite runnable using max settings but is pointless at the moment because there is really poor multi GPU support.

Shouldn't every game be impossible to max out on current hardware. Then we might move away from (awful looking) games that are designed to run for console peasants and might get some really awesome looking games. Why should a setting called ULTRA be easy to run? Easy to run should be the low or medium setting.
[Being philosophical, I understand resolution etc etc will change system requirements.]

Wow.. i'm jealous.. 4k at 73fps? Wow.. With a 980 at max you only got 37?? Did it only use one card? Also it doesn't like much.. my 7950 got 24. I think thats pretty good at max.

With Attila SLI is not working very well so it is probably best to use just a single card until they fix it.

That 37fps run was done on a single GTX 980.

Could also be a driver thing too. Then again TW on launch day doesn't always play nice with Xfire/SLI. Still 37fps with a 980 at max shows how no card can really play it at max comfortably yet. Because in the campaign/multiplayer you would easily have more units then the built in benchmark.
