Tons of goodies ordered for Project ChillyCube!

I went on an ordering spree last night for my new project - Project ChillyCube - and outfitted myself with some new fans, ccfl's, fan controllers, etc. etc.

I picked up 12 new 120mm Delta fans for her. 6 of which are 96cfm for the radiator, and the other 6 are 72cfm for the case. Excess Solutions is selling em for $5 a piece w/ a chrom fan guard, such a sick price! Also got 10 more 3pin fan extensions and 3pin y-adapters for all of the fans that will be running inside. Going to try and keep it extra clean since I'll have more than enough room.

Going with a blue interior theme this time, picked up 6 roayl blue CCFL's to stick in her. Sneaky's looks completely awesome with only 4 in his but I guess he's looking to put in 2 more to enhance the pwnage :)

Got 50 feet of grey PET style wire sleeving coming, should be enough to cover all of my cabling... Also picked up 200 zip ties in bulk for $4 / 100 pack, w00t! haha. Gotta love McMaster, they have the cheapest stuff ever. I figure everything will look extra gangsta if done in grey to match the case a bit. I plan on sleeving every single cable in the case that isn't already sleeved (ie. power supply).

Also picked up some 2" brass standoffs and a large piece of clear acrylic plexi glass for a project that hopefull turns out to be off the chain 1337. I'm going to take out my mobo and diagram where the mounting holes are, the ram is, and the PWM's are in comparison. Then I'm going to cut a custom piece of acrylic to mount on the 2" standoffs which will be attached through the mobo mounting holes. This piece of acrylic will hold the 4 x 40mm Sunon fans that I bought for cooling the RAM and PWM's in a nice clean fashion :) If it turns out well I might send the plans to someone who could mass produce the acrylic pieces and sell them, pretty good idea eh?

Only other things I picked up where hundreds of different style cap screws for mounting drives and fans and such. Guess I also got some clear 24" SATA cables to route under the mobo tray up to my hard drives.

I think that's it for now :D Project ChillyCube is going to end up looking pretty slick in the end mefinks! Stay tuned for the project thread which will include some good pictures for ya :)

Nice buys Frag! :worship: :worship:

For some reason I can't understand what your acrylic window idea is (maybe cause it's early: 3:45 AM :D ) What is it for?

Just re-read that paragraph... It makes perfect sense to me? It's my own custom cooling solution for the RAM and PWM's, basically an acrylic bracket mounted to mobo mounting hold standoffs to hold four 40mm fans placed over the RAM and PWM's.

Ah, it's for cooling the RAM and stuff... And hey, I'm tired. I know you older people keep worse hours than I do, but I'm not as used to it. You could always have a CM Stacker 830 and have that thing that holds 4 120mm fans :p

Methinks i'm gonna have to step up the game on my rig a bit.

I'm thinking about some custom multi-colour spray work :D

Ehhh... The U2-UFO holds 9 120mm fans + 3 additional for the back side of the radiator. Stacker fans = pwned.

And yes Jim, mefinks it's time u did something to the beast :) Though I think what you should do is supercool the fucker before you have another kid which will be your doomsday for computer buying :(

I'm debating on the project / computer name. ChillyCube was the first thing that came to mind, any other suggestions?

I'll open upa new thread on the subject :)

Started up a thread pertaining to the subject in Off-Topic :D Let the naming begin!

Like ur suggestion btw Jim.

Hmm, now that I think about it, the Stacker 830 can actually have 9x120mm too :p

I just got in my mcmaster boxes full of all sorts of sweet arse trinkets! :D

The new tubing I got is so badass, blows Tygon and Clearflex right out of the damn water. Thickest sidewalls I've ever seen in my life. U really can't kink this shit, it's absolutely the best!

Got all of my cable sleeving stuff in from SVC as well. Once my new mobo comes in I can map out how I'm going to build my ram cooling mount with the acrylic.

yayx0rz.
