TN Panels - are they all the same?

So would you say there is higher 'whoa' factor with having 120hz or would the colour reproduction of IPS panels be better - in gaming?

If you want to enjoy the game more, IPS.

If you don't care about graphics and ONLY care about winning and being able to react as fast as humanly possible, 120hz.

But, you use your computer for more than just gaming, and IPS screens are so much better for general day to day tasks and watching films too.

I was recently trying to make the same decision as you. I ended up with a Dell U2412M IPS panel and personally, I am happy I did. They are perfectly fine for gaming. I haven't noticed any drop in performance compared to my Iiyama TN panel but the colours are a HELL of a lot better.

At the end of the day, you really need to make the decision as to whether performance or picture quality is more important to you. For what it is worth, if you do end up wanting a 120Hz panel over an IPS then you may want to look at the Asus and Samsung counterparts to that BenQ, from review and tests I've read they seem to have better colour representation over the BenQ. Although they wont perform quite as fast, the difference is negligible and most likely not noticable.

Look at it this way. TN panels are good for gaming whilst IPS panels are good for pretty much anything. I'd rather have a game looking nice and playing quite well than having a game that frankly looks pretty terrible, but plays a little faster/is a bit more responsive.

I couldn't compare them as I have not used an IPS monitor. I've always had cheap TN panels until I bought these xl2420ts.

I will say the image quality on xl2420ts isn't as bad as made out. Much better than TNs I've had before. Movies and games look great. Photos look awful though, dreadful even. I have never quite worked out why. It's something to do with the instant mode/AMA.

I would say it's worth considering if you play a lot of fps games but for other genres an IPS is probably a better choice.

I think when looking at an IPS screen compared to a TN panel side by side most people will jump to the IPS. TN Im sorry just cant compare. Sure there is that tiny bit of lag in the most rare of occasions, has never bothered myself though.
My Dell 3008wfp is the best thing pc component I have ever bought and that was a few years back now.
