tis a sad day :(

i have been currently working on a CPU stress app for TTL and OC3D

the app is great - it does exactly what it is supposed to do

but....

it killed my 1055T

RIP hexy - you've been kind to me

. time for you to find your place in

silicon heaven.

i now have to make do with one rig (i7), until a replacement miraculously appears from a tight xmas budget

this means - no more wallpapers, video/intro animations and apps for a while

i am gutted

i must look on the bright side

atleast i am (was) lucky enough to have two rigs

i did have another build in mind - but i am not expecting that to emerge too soon, as it is going to be an SR-3 monster.

i am not looking forward to transferring several terrabytes of stuff over to the i7

one expense NOT prepared for

Wow, sorry to hear about this. Are the other components fine though? Maybe you could see if it's RMA-able or if you can replace it with a 2nd hand?

I feel sorry for you...But can you provide us with that software that killed your 1055t?

Looks like it is really upto the task of harassing the chip...

thanks for all your condolensces (lol)

the fun-eral will be held this coming monday at 10am.

to fully 'test' the stress app, i had to severely OC the chip... 1055T was at 4.2GHz, under D14

the app uses similar tech_code as my OC3D Hardware Monitor does, "and some".

it thrashes all threads better than Prime95

constant tesing at these (those) levels is not recommended

with my CPU's demise, i have decided to turn down the app's release settings

once TTL has used it's final release many times in vidoes etc..., and if members are interested in having the app, it will be available

Did TTL ask you to write this app or is it something that you decided to do?

4.2Ghz isn't that high. Highest for stable maybe. 4.4 is where high starts. but then it's a lower binned chip so perhaps you're right.

How in the seven seas did you kill it anyway? I've been folding all threads of my 1090 @4 - 4.2Ghz for the past month or so and aside from instabilities I haven't damaged the chip. 232x18 wasn't stable but have had no problems with 250x16.5 as yet. What frequency were the rest of the chips on your board at and what volts (could be asking a lot as most guys forget what their BIOS is running at)?

omg - i can get a 1090 to 4.5+ stable - easily - lol

it is a little harder with a 1055, as it has a locked multiplier, and needs over 1.52v to achieve it, and is also very dodgy on air with it. (please see my 'best' sig)

i just need to be grateful of the cold weather, as i would never get speeds like that in summertime
