Time for a GPU upgrade I think

Ok so i have found a 780 i can stretch to. Will i be voiding the warranty by putting a waterblock on it?

Yes, you will void the warranty, unless you can remove the current cooler from the card without breaking any seals and stuff, well technically you are breaking the warranty, but you might "bend" the rules a little.

I would suggest though to test the card first for like 2 months, see if it isn't a Dead on Arrival (DOA) card. If all works well you might want to convert it.

Only get a 780 if it's worth it. Otherwise a 7970 or 770 will do you fine.

Hmm. I like the idea of buying a card that will last me ages. However, i have noticed that there aren't really any games i want to play. Will there be a whole load of games released when the PS4 and XBOX one comes out?

Unless you're buying an EVGA card, most likely yes.

This is very gay. I've found a 780 for £460 but i guess i'll be voiding the warranty right away.

Yeah i did this with the PS2 stickers. Are they easy to peel off on GPU's? If i remember correctly, i spotted a sticker in one of Tom's vids, they just put a small circle sticker on one of the heat sink screws?

Most of the games will be exclusive to consoles on their release to "entice" consumers to go for their console over the other. Only game i know of off the bat that are AAA multi-platform titles is BF4. Why do you ask? Sort of off topic you mentioned it.

What games do you play now? try expanding your genres?:)

I like games like Crysis, Metro, Battlefield etc and i'm about to start Bioshock Infinite. But if not many games are coming out i'm not sure what to do. I'm relatively new to PC gaming and just assumed there would be as many games as there are on consoles.

There are far more PC games than consoles. Only problem with you(nothing against you) is that you stick with the FPS and every FPS is the same besides game functionality and abilities.

I'm new to PC gaming as well but i play F2P games(still fun), RTS,TPS(third) and Adventure(FC3). If i had more money i would be splurging into FPS, racing, sims, and more advetnture. Don't confine yourself to a single genre. Gaming is entertainment so try everything to see if you have fun and then it just opens up new doors for more fun.

if you only get the AAA games, you're missing out on the actually good games

Just to confuse a little more.

In game that support SLI well, wouldn't 2x 670 or 2x 660ti or even 2x 760 be far faster than 1x 780..?

I know lol. But that's just what i like. I tried FC3 and i enjoyed it, but then i lost my save and couldn't be bothered with it again.

Feel free to suggest any games, i'll take a look and give them a go.

Such as?

Already thought of that and i assumed it would? However will i get away with 2 GPU's and a CPU on 2 240 (one 45 and one 65) rads? I wanted a single GPU solution only because i was worried about rad space. Some people say it will be fine, but other seem worried.

I don't know how you come to that conclusion.
Two 670's might be level with the 780, but not really. The 660 Ti is the equivalence of a 580. The 760 is a budget card.

When the Titan came out, it was terrible value for money because you could get 2 670s for far less, and they'd demolish it in any benchmark.

If 2x 670's can beat a Titan by that sort of margin, I'm pretty sure 2x 660ti's can beat a 780.
Probably even 2x 660's could beat a 780, but that's too low a card to fall back on in games that don't use SLI well :)

670 or 770 SLI > titan or 780 in single gpu solution. 660ti/760ti SLI >= Titan or 780

To answer the question of what games you should play, depends on what genres your interested in trying tbh.

Well try World Of Tanks/ Warplanes for free. Warthunder is catching up in populairty although i can't get it to work. I love strategy games so i play Total War or Civilization V for example. I dont play as many games as others but I'm happy with what i got:)

I'm aware of the tank thing and thats really not my kinda thing. I'll take a look at the other games though, Thanks :)

I think i'm going to try and find enough games to warrant to 780, if not ill go 770 and forget about 1440, Or just not maxed out.

Don't sell yourself short. Mine as well get the best you possibly can!

Another RTS game that deals with online is Command & Conquer. Never played it but it looks interesting.

Ok cool thanks.

When buying a card that i'm going to put on water anyways, do i need to worry about anything other than the warranty? Should i ignore cards like "super clock" etc? I'm pretty sure i remember hearing "just get the cheapest version of the card you're shopping for". Obviously i know EVGA are the water friendly people so i guess that makes them the manufacturer i'm looking for?

Thanks.

You want to get EVGA, obviously. You might just get the cheapest one and do the clocking yourself, but you might also get factory OC'd card that might have slightly better silicone and might come with a backplate for little more. Have a look around.

I think these are limited time offers, when I briefly looked now my retailer doesn't state anything like that, only EVGA website says "Free backplate with every GTX 770" So I guess you better make double sure the backplate actually comes with it, rather than retailers keeping it for themselves and reselling them later.

If it were my money I'd grab a GTX 770 4GB, future proof and it will run any game. If, in the future you decide to purchase a display above 1080p, you can always add a second card. They're very efficient and perform incredibly well for the cost.

(btw new here, but subbd on YouTube for 2 yrs)
