Thinking of buying a used PC; got a question

Hi, I hope this is the right forum section.

So right now my only chance of getting a real gaming PC is buying a used one. Can anyone please give me a rough estimate of how much the PC components' value drops, say, for a year old mid-high end PC?

I want to know this because usually there's some room for haggling and I want to be able to make a reasonable offer.

Thanks

What's the budget and what will it be used for?
Budget would be about €500 and as I said, I want a real gaming PC :p.

I've seen used i5-based gaming PCs for sale for around my current budget but I just want to make every euro count and to get a good (reasonable) deal

i5 quad cores are perfect for gaming. Just need a GPU in there in order to be able to get any kind decent FPS.
Yes, I know that; that's not what I'm here for :p

I want to know how much(or "how little" to be more precise) it is OK to ask for a used PC- how much does the value degrade over time

Well if it's used it already lost it's value. No one can give you an exact number for the value unless we know the specific hardware inside... Better off IMO to just build your own and use gumtree to buy parts cheap.

I was thinking like maybe the used parts would be worth 70% of their current average store price or something along these lines.

Depends on how used it is and how hard some parts have been overclocked. But i would anywhere from 50-70% would be accurate.
