i have a thermaltake smart m850w and the psu fan is the loudest thing in my room, thermaltake are not being very helpful at all, so what can i do about it?

thanks again for any help anyone can give me!

and before you can start i didn't have the money for a corsair psu

How are you running it ? fan down or fan up ? what is the rest of your specs and what do you have pulling from it?

What can you do about it? Unplug it, unbolt it from the case, and chuck it as hard as you can against the nearest concrete (or material of similar hardness) wall/floor. :yelrotflmao:

The aforementioned procedure is good for all ThermalTACKY products.

No really, I'd get a Seasonic PSU. They are the same OEM as Corsair (well, Corsair's older models), but about $50 (USD) cheaper. I have the 650w version of the X series PSU in my rig right now and it's been awesome.

Corsair's older models

Actually, some of Corsair's PSU's are still made by Seasonic, for example the
AX760. Interestingly, the AX760i is made by Flextronics.

As for the OP's problem, I know it sucks, but what exactly do you expect Tt to
do about it? As long as the PSU is running as per their specifications, they're
not really obligated to do anything. If the PSU is simply a loud PSU by nature,
according to them everything is ok. You're simply a customer who is not
satisfied with the product he bought, but the product itself is actually doing
exactly what it's supposed to do.

I'm not saying it wouldn't be nice if they helped, but technically speaking,
nothing has actually gone wrong (again, provided the PSU is not broken).

EDIT: I'm not sure about consumer protection laws where you live, but here
you can return the product for a refund up until a certain time after buying it
if you're not satisfied. Not sure if that's an option for you though.

the thing is on the website it says "Ultra Quiet 14cm Fan

SMART Modular Bronze series adopt 14cm cooling fan with intelligent RPM control guarantees cool performance and silent operation."

http://www.thermaltake.com/products-model.aspx?id=C_00001830

and it's really not quiet at all, that's why i'm thinking is there something wrong with it. but i have asked them and this is what i said in the email

"Hi i have one of your SMART M850W psu and i think i have a problem, the fan is making more noise then anything else in my pc, is there anything i can do to make it more quite or is it suppose to be noisy?

thanks for your time

Jarrard"

I just think it a bit rude to not even get back to my but they really want my feedback

they sent this
"Dear sir,
Dear sir,
Thermaltake thanks your support!
If not, pls check the purchase store for quicker service with receipt.

or contact our local disty for quicker service with the original purchase receipt."

Well then (if the PSU is indeed not broken) you would appear to have fallen
victim to marketing.

Yeah that's pretty shitty support IMO. Basically telling you to fuck off
and go complain to someone else. :nono:

Have you tried returning it and getting it exchanged locally?

that was the worst auto generated support message i have ever seen.

:yelrotflmao:

yeah, i thing this takes the cake!

ok so i turn the psu with the fan up and now i'm getting a humming sound from the fan or the parts inside...
