Just in case anyone is in doubt, people have tried these pastes before, and their verdicts are the same ;) AS5 is by far, not the best. As you can see, the cheap MX1 has made it to the "outstanding" category :) There's some other good stuff in the thread at XS, so check it out!

I've heard good things about the shin-etsu pastes. Tempting.

The best shin etsu is very hard to find. Also, its extremely expensive...liquid metal pro has gallium or something like that in there, so it stains things (some CPUs got fused to the heatsink!). MX-1 is cheap and good, but I hear its a little hard to spread due to high viscosity.

There's at least one shop over here that stocks shin etsu x-23. I don't think you tested that one but it apparently gives around the same performance, if not better, than the G-751. And at a very reasonable £6.

I'll probably stick with my ceramique but I was tempted by it.

Shin Etsu like I said, is very expensive.

Did you notice the MX-1? MX-1 can be found on ebay for very low prices, and its an awesome performer ;) X23 isn't as good as G751 I think...not too sure.

Was the AS5 allowed the 200 hours it needs to cure?

No, however, all pastes have their "setting" times, and in this case, none of the pastes were allowed to set. However, just look through the thread at XS and you'll see people saying "I switched to MX-1 and got an immediate drop of 5C!". Its truly amazing stuff ;) AS5 is so much more expensive than MX-1 anyways.

I know you might doubt that MX-1 and shin etsu are better even after they're given curing time...but personal experience is the ultimate test ;)

The link to the review in your op is incomplete

Damn something must've happened...

BTW, how do you set it so that you don't get sent an email every time a post is made? I unsubscribed all my threads yet its sending me emails like crazy!

I currently use Coollaboratories Liquid Pro, the transfer properties are good but it is a nightmare to put on and plain doesnt come off after a while. Might take a look at picking up some MX-1.

Any idea what it's like at sub 0?

It plain dnt work, only just got up so i can't remember why... ceramiqee is the only one that really works down below:p. Im thinking of picking up a 22g syringe of that.

Also didn't XMS do practically exactly the same thing?

Ah i knew most of them didnt do sub 0. Doesnt it have something to do with the intra and inter molecular bonds failing?

ugh molecular eek sounds fancy...i am going to have to try that artic cooling mx-1 :) my computer is idle'in around 40-45c and under load its 50-55c wounder if that would cool it down a bit.

tbh I'm not arguing with the test but it could be given curing time for fairness.

AS5 is just as cheap as the rest from what I'm seeing in the UK. Compare £5-6 from SpecialTech (free pnp) to £3.99 + £1.50 for the MX-1

Might try it out once I'm done with this review that I need to use AS5 for for fairness

Collobatory is very good, keeps my prescott cooler, but as llwyd said it is a

to get off! Might look into getting some mx-1 to put on the AC Accelero X2 im geting for my x1900xt, or does the AC Accelero X2 come with MX-1?
