I do applogise for the wall colour.. it is a rented house and is doing my nut in that my parents can't get permission to paint it! (I'm only 15)

That lapped CPU (yes I know not a good job) was done using very course sand paper :nono: It is my old Intel Celeron 2.53GHz, I thought I'd give it a go and get the feeling for it seeing as my lapping kit is coming on tuesday.. need to get a bit of practice before I do it on my current CPU and cooler. I did this one very on rough paper though it seems to have worked alright (needs a bit more work TBH!), needs higher grit to take out the scratches formed and it will be just as good as any other lapped CPU! :).

If I do a good job, I might offer a lapping service for you people from the forum.. all I will require is the money for the lapping kit (£11.60 including P&P) and £7.50 for recorded postage back to you and any extra donations are always welcome! :) If anyone is interested in this, drop me a PM. Please wait until I have done my own. I will be uploading the results in stages as I go through each step so you can see how I am doing.

Thanks for looking, I hope you enjoy it!

Impressive rig. Looks very nice and colourful!

The cable management is nice aswell, when I can get some more tools, things to work with and room to work then i'll have another shot at my cable management. :)

Thank you bud.

I have done some more work to that CPU now.. take a look :D Please remember this is done using very course sand paper, when I get my lapping kit and do my actual CPU it will be MUCH better than this, though I think this is quite an achievement for 80grit sand paper? :D

NOTE: My lapping kit comes with 400, 600, 800 and 1000 for a mirror finish, 40, 25, 20, 15 and 10 Micron is also included in the kit, so I will do my best to get it as mirror like as possible, for the best temperatures! :)

Thanks LOL, not a bad card for the £85 I paid for it when it was first released. Plays all my games that I want to play at a good FPS.. apart from Crysis but that was already to be expected to be honest.

Just a heads up... when you start getting to the very very fine grit, they start to clog up and wear out very quickly. It's hard work to get the perfect finish. Took me ages on an ole 939 I had.

PS..... Never mind the colour of your walls... The colour of your optical drives is criminal. Paint them black ftw! ;)

ROFL @ the optical drive reference :D

Wow that CPU IHS looks deeply scratched. It's going to take a bit to rub those bad boys out. Good luck with the lapping anyway mate.

Oh the rig looks good too and how are you finding the AC Freezer 7 Pro?

It is a very good remark actually, I was thinking of paining them black but I already have a black optical drive which broke within two months.. it's being RMAed at the moment :)

I love the ACF7P, though I am looking forward to getting the AC Xtreme!

That lapping.. well as I said that CPU was lapped with 80 grit sand paper as it is an old CPU and I just wanted to get a feeling for it so it doesn't bother me if it doesn't boot up again. My current CPU (E2140 @3GHz) will be lapped more carefully, starting out with 400 grit and slowly moving up to 1000 grit (wet'n'dry although I'm doing it dry) to get a perfect finish, same as with my CPU cooler.

I will be posting a thread on how it is going.. I have already structured it out in MS Word 2007, just waiting for the kit to come so that I can get on with it.

Thanks for your opinions so far guys :)

LOL doesn't seem to work for me, I have tried slipstreaming it too which won't work either so I have just gone back to using the good old fashion floppy drive :D

Lapping kit is arriving tomorrow by the way guys ;)

Thank you, can't wait to get my Arctic Cooling Freezer Xtreme in there.. then it will look the dogs nutters :)

I got rid of my floppy drive as I just went on to Vista.. can't be bothered with RAID drivers for XP installs!

Have you thought about an OCZ Vendetta II instead of the Arctic Freezer? I had the Arctic Freezer Pro as well but when I got my Q9450 I thoght I might need better cooling. On searching the reviews on here the OCZ got very good results and it was a decent price, so I got one. Im very pleased with it and I am currently stress testing the Q9450 with the new overclock which you helped me to do, so thanks.

Clocked at 3.51 it has been running for a couple of hours stress testing with Everest and its only gone as high as 55c. I think thats pretty good, especially as I haven't got the best thermal paste on it because I ran out of Arctic Silver 5.

It runs very quiet as well with the big 120 fan on it. Just trying to return the favour?

PS Sorry about the fonts, not sure whats going on there?

Nothing wrong with the font mate. Don't worry!

Yeah .. LYNX XD

Also.. I am really wanting to get the AC X some time soon.. £14 owed to my dad and then I can start saving.. unless I go out with this girl which will make things a lot tighter LOL
