The Story Ends On A Sad Note...

The end of the Athlon 64 for NickS_. The end forever? Dun't know. The End for MSI, forever? YES.

You all know how I had problems with the Ram & Board playing nicely in the beginning. I fixed it, kind of. Well yesterday when I tried to install XP x64, it kept restarting, not starting, or BSOD'ing.

So, I tried to re-install XP regular. AHH same thing. Got it finally working. Upgraded BIOS. Everything works great, cept, now it hates my ram even more! AHH!

So, I'm selling the AMD to Frag, instead of the Intel, and I'm STAYING on the LIGHT SIDE for now.

Nicks , the biggest mistake you did right from the start is not get the right damn parts man . You cant blame it on the platform if you get the wrong parts. I told u at the beginning after you got the board from MSI to ebay it and get a DFI but NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO , you were in love with MSI .

:sigh: i just wish that you would listen to people more . Would save u a bunch of trouble and money as well.

their P$ baords can be good tho ( the neo's) nicks hope ya leared to go by way of DFI (or some Abit boards)

I might just get a Giga-Byte MOBO for my next one. I have one now and have NEVER TO DATE had ANY problem with it at all. Either that or maybe DFI.

MSI boards are not BAD . The Neo2 is still the best socket 939 board imho. BUT , when you read about a certain product , the review websites are voting for the dfi , users are rooting for dfi , MSI doesnt even COME in the picture and you still start the chant that "its an MSI mobo , thus it should be good" is where you fall wrong. Any manufacturer cannot make every single mobo they produce , the best mobo out there. Its a fact . DFI were no-namers till their NF2 boards , and even then ABIT NF7-S boards were spanking their asses in terms of sales . But come Socket 754/939 and we saw DFI catapult to the top with top of the BEST overclocking boards they have produced till date.

MSI hit a homerun with Neo2 Plat. And with DFI not entering the NF3 939 board market , it was an added boost to them . Suddenly MSI became synonymous to overclocking whenever socket 939 was mentioned. This doesnt mean that Neo2 didnt have its own problems , it was a quirky board at its best , but compared to the offering by other manufacturers , MSI had the least disadvantages . Sort of like " Lesser evil of the two " .

Gigabyte in my opinion have always produced stable boards for stock clocks with a bunch of junk that users do not need nor use , and are almost ALWAYS overpriced. I would take an ABIT board anyday over a GIGABYTE board.

Blame the MSI board... :)

I hate those fuckers :awhip:

Im not a die-hard MSI fan , but they have had a couple of nice boards. That being said , its DFI or ABIT as the first choice for me for ANY board :yumyum: .

And the world will come to an end before I touch a Gigabyte or an Asus board :bootyshak

.....ahem....well that was interesting!!! Hey kempez, your opinion of MSI boards is well documented, however I don't think it benefits anyone to openly flame the manufacturer :) . I have an MSI 875 NEO and haven't had a spot of bother with it, I know its an Intel board, but it appears that you are tarring all with the same brush. I shall stand in defence of Nick a little here, and knowing that he is only 13 yo, more than likely doesn't have the financials that some of you guys have.

Bourne...gracious and diplomatic as ever :D I heeded your advice with regards to my NF4 mobo, but purely because I had the monetary means to do so.

So can we pls, just as an idea...not openly flame a manufacturer for their bad points. Fair enough, a warning to any prospective purchaser would be ideal, but the need to say '(pls enter manufacturer here)' because they build $hite mobo's. Just food for thought

Thnx, PV. You're totally correct. I am now, selling my MSI K8T Neo FIS2R, in the hopes of getting ~$80, on eBay, and then selling my P4 mobo, keep the P4 itself. Then I will have ~100 and I can buy a DFI LanParty UT nForce 3 250GB Socket 754 board, and HOPE that it agree's with my Ram, and have a nice PC. I miss my AMD though. CS:S is a struggle. 88FPS vs. 122FPS. (Intel vs. AMD)

*sigh* but it is fast in windows.
