I'm looking for a motherboard that runs DDR3 ram has SLi and runs well under air cooling. I may also overclock some parts of my computer such as the CPU (thinking of a Intel core 2 quad Q9450) but only by a small margin.
It also has to be able to fit the more powerful CPU's like the core 2 extreme qx9770, (when i can actually afford one
) and have a good upgrade potential so that a couple of years down the road i wont have to bin it and get a new board. I know that will happen eventually but i'd like some head room.
Price is not really an issue tho value for money is always good. I have had a look at the Asus maximus extreme ( yep know it's not SLi compatable) and the Asus striker II extreme but have seen mixed reviews on these and not sure if there a bit overkill for what i'm after. Bells and whistle's are great as long as they get used.
Basically i want a board that runs DDR3 and doesn't need water cooling, has SLi ( tho this is not top of my list) and can do some overclocking and if i was lucky enough to win the lottery the day after i bought it i could go out and buy the best CPU,GFX card etc and slap them on it no trouble and they would run like a dream.
My computer will be used for gaming if that makes any difference to the type of motherboard you would suggest.
