We should be glad that people buy them, in the long run it is just better for us that are not so rich or privileged, in 2 years time i hope we have gpu's capable of easily doing vr for a good deal cheaper then what we pay now, and 2 years isnt really that long considering how new the technology is and how much it will need to mature over that time, that includes the gaming industry that wants to do vr support.

Right, like Solid State Drives? 6 years later... yep, very cheap. lol
It comes in at $850AUD here so more than I was wanting to pay but not unexpected. Priced between a GTX980 and a 980ti so not exactly 'just for the rich and spoiled brats'
When you consider the bundled controller is about $50 here, you're getting two 1200*1080 90hz displays for $400 each it's not actually that bad.
As long as it doesn't make you sick.
It's not bad considering what the Co Founder said on twitter, I'm a little confused about the price now and further to that they didn't expect Oculus to be this popular I can see stock trouble ahead :lol:I don't think the price is that bad considering the R&D and people they've hired to create it.
You're forgetting that you need a £1500 PC for the ideal experience too dude. So it's not just 850AUD it's 850AUD plus whatever a I5/980ti rig costs too.
I read some tech stuff on it today and apparently running it is like running three 1080p screens. What makes it harder is that the two 'screens' it has run at 90hz and a mate of mine who has tested the release kit reckons that you need at least 70FPS or it falls apart and makes you feel sick.
As such a GTX 970 (min req) is never ever going to give you 70FPS min at that resolution. The first game out apparently recommends a minimum GTX980. So ideally as I said above you really need at least a 980ti.
Which makes it only for the rich. 4k is the same but you can run a 4k monitor at lower resolutions.

SSD prices have more or less halfed if not more in terms of proce. You used to have to pay around 300 for a 128GB SSD now they are sub 100.
The above prices are from AU, however every contry has had similar price changes.
And? It doesn't change the fact that the price/GB is still too expensive. They are cheaper to manufacture than HDD's, funny old world isn't it? It's because people like you keep believing the story that manufacturers keep getting away with it. What is 128GB these days? Nothing.

Forumite on different forum said:No, because the only 3 games officially announced as of today by Oculus are Valkyrie, Luckys Tale and Rock Band. There are lots of others that have promised to be a launch titles (technolust etc) but there's no official list.
Half Life 2 is, to most people, a pretty horrible, nauseating experience. I can play about two minutes before getting pukey. It was never designed for VR, the locomotion and turning make you want to spew, and the scale is all off (you are taller than most of the combine which makes them far less intimating than they should be)
Honestly though, anyone just getting into VR to play the games they currently play, but in VR is going to be in for a pukey disappointment. In time, developers will find ways to make FPS etc games work, but right now, my best advice is to stick to games with a well thought out and solidly implemented VR experience.
EDIT: As a side note, has anyone got their confirmation emails yet?

Ever heard of a loss leader?
It makes perfect sense to me. Get people in to test it en masse while they work out how to lower the cost of manufacturing.
