Well I got a chance to hook up the Wii at my buddies place last night and played for a few hours, but then we stopped and played BF2142 until we were so drunk we couldn't get out of our chairs.
Retrieved my Wii from his place this morning and brought it to my parents house today and got it all hooked up to the 72" Sony bigscreen and started playing. All I can say is WOW! This has got to be one of the greatest consoles of all time. The control system is so ingenious and well thought out, its just unbelievable.
It's funny because I've been having more fun playing Wii sports with my dad than playing some of the games that I've bought for it, hehe. My dad and I are quite partial to bowling and golf, both very very fun games.
I've had a chance to play all of my other games except for Madden 06 and Resident Evil 4 (which I've played on the Gamecube). Twilight Princess is just friggin' epic, it's insane. I think I am going to come to my parents house tomorrow after work and play for a few hours before I head home because I just wanna play that game till I pass out. Redsteel is sweet as well, the guns and story line is great, and the sword fighting system is just awesome I have more fun doing that than anything else
COD3 also looks great, the graphics are stunning for the Wii's little GPU and runs flawless, and the controls are perfect using the Wii's system.
Next mission is to get some more Nunchuk's... I have 3 Wiimotes and only 1 nunchuk which is needed for pretty much every game outside of the Wii sports games which mostly just use the remote itself.
I also bought a 2,000 point Wii points card and got that registered. I went online (very very easy to do with the built-in WiFi) and downloaded both Sonic the Hedgehog and Super Mario 64. Both play perfectly from the Virtual Console, one of the niftiest features ever for the Wii.
So all in all I'm very pleased with this system. For the low price tag and amount of fun it provides it's definately the must-have console of this generation IMO. If you can live with mediocre graphics and don't require all of the mumbo-jumbo that the expensive consoles have then this thing is definately what you want.
