The hunt for the PERFECT case?!

For ages i've wanted a new case but nothing EVER seems to be right for me, im a gamer and go to lots of lans so i need something thats portable!

But! on the flipside im also a cheapskate and always heavily overclock the crap out of my kit.

So i need my case to be able to have a decent airflow and also the ability to use standard size parts.

From what ive seen in the midi/micro case market everything seems to just be a simple resize of a normal design instead of really going over the design problems.

So once again im going to look into maybe doing it myself - now what im thinking of doing is getting hold a of a PC Test bed and building up around that.

We shall see how long it last!

Think of something like...

but maybe a little more square and then placing mesh round the sides and such :S

There's a Lian-Li thats very close to this design (the v300?) but i think for this type of case that the mobo should be above the PSU, HDD, Optical and have enough height for a large cooler.

The only lili I can think of is the 343 but that is a 46cm cube - not portable... Unless you mean the one that Frag had, I do love that one but it is too small for my needs.

Besides, you are building it so crack on son, I want to see what you come up with!

bit off from what you said, but what about the antec lanboy?

its quite an old case now, but its certainatly portable and will do everything you ask of it..

The lanboy was a nice case - but its not really small

Think of that! But with the motherboard at the top and using the space inside a bit bitter for air flow instead of fitting 4HDDs in :D

Edit - Also full size ATX!

It's certainly do-able

Great little case, and you could create a custom tray to take a full ATX mobo. The one in the images above is about to be water-cooled

These type things are great. Bit overpriced tho imo.

Mesh is nice`n`cheap.

Yeah, i was a little shocked at the £70-100 price tag on them and cant even find one on Ebay :(

If anyone has one or can get there hands on one ;)

Think diy is still a good option.

U look at it minus the pc gear, and theres nothing to it. Make the lower bit a bit smaller, or keep it the same if u wanna wc. Stick mesh around it in a way that it`ll come away easily.

U can pickup things like on/off switches, leds, as a pack from Maplins for like £5-£10 (I bought a handfull of em).

Brackets and stuff.. diy shop. Shelving ? theres is probaby plastic, but theres nothing to say u cant use mdf or something.

You can buy a kit that gives you the building blocks already too...Kustom PC's sell them

Yeah at £70-100 a pop :(

I was thinking of doing it in MDF and just cutting apart one of my old case up for bits like the mobo tray and such.

We shall see!
