My current system looks great but some the internals are crap:( my current system is a acer motherboard with a 3.0GHz Pentium D from a prebuilt system before I got into computers:sad:. I did a few upgrades to it from then:lol: I installed 3gb of ddr2 ram, got a new case.....a bit big for a m-atx mobo...the corsair 800D:), for the psu I got a Corsair AX1200 I know its overkill but it helps when I want to upgrade gfx cards I don’t have to worry about power, I found an old sata 3 300gb HDD for programs, I also put a Asus gtx 660ti OC edition. I know the system id far from finished. I also got a sentry mix:cool:.
Around Christmas time I will be getting another chunk of my system: Asus ROG Maximus V Formula, Intel i5 3570k, 2x4 GB red Corsair Vengeance 2133MHz. I hope to water cool this all by the end of summer next year. I will also get a WD black 1TB sometime in may and a SSD in that time. I want to get a corsair SSD but haven't made my final decision. I will be using the stock cooler for now so I get get to water cooling sooner.
If I do water cool I will be modding my 800D a lot. First of all I will be getting a 360 60mm thick rad on the top in the stock mount with push/pull CM Excaliburs. Then I will take out the HDD rack in the bottom of the case. I will fit a 480 80mm thick rad in the bottom pulling in air from the side and exporting it out the other. I will make the whole bottom its own cooling chamber and mod the side panels to make a large mesh cutout. The bottom rails that the PSU normally sits on will stay because they are a bit bigger than the thickness of the rad witch push/pull red sickle flows/Excaliburs. I will cut a whole on the inside front panel that will fit the rad with fans so i can slide it in with some cloth on the floor so it wont scratch. I will also make a fan filter for it. i will take out the plastic side panel normally for grommets so the fans can export hot air. The PSU will got in the bottom 4 5.25 bays standing vertically so the molex connectors will be facing the motherboard. I will fill the front bays with mesh and make a shroud shroud the psu so the exhaust will go out the front of the case. I will build a large shroud that will be about an inch off of the edge of the mobo so I can run sata and power cables through. the shroud will go all of the way to the midplate and leave a hole for the 140mm hdd fan. the shroud will also direct all of the cables for my gfx card and for the other motherboard power and sata power. This might be a little hard to image so I did a mock up with the psu and some white acrylic I had laying around(I know someone that owns a plastic shop so I get free plastic:tongue:). I just put my system back together I will do another mock up with pictures in December.
Please Give feedback and advice. Something that I noticed was that the bottom HDD rack is different from some tutorials i got my case in march 2012 so I need a tutorial for the new version.
